Reportedly, yes—but not across the board. Bloomberg reporting in March 2026, followed by a reported internal town-hall confirmation in May, indicates Sony is pulling back from PC ports of major narrative single-player games developed by PlayStation Studios. The reports named Ghost of Yōtei and Saros as staying on PS5. They do not establish a public, permanent ban on every PlayStation game coming to PC.

What Sony is reportedly changing

On March 4, 2026, Bloomberg reported that Sony no longer planned to bring its major PS5 single-player games to PC. The account, based on people familiar with Sony’s plans, named Ghost of Yōtei and Saros as games that would remain on PS5. Sony declined to comment to Bloomberg at the time, according to Gematsu’s report and Ars Technica’s account of the story.

On May 18, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said that PlayStation studio business CEO Hermen Hulst had told employees at an internal town hall that the company’s narrative single-player games would be PlayStation exclusive. Gematsu and Push Square reported Schreier’s account. That is a reported description of an internal meeting—not a public Sony announcement or a direct quote from Hulst. The reports strengthen the case that Sony is changing direction, but they do not provide a complete title-by-title roadmap.

Which PlayStation games may still come to PC?

The reported pullback is narrower than an end to Sony publishing games on PC. Reports distinguish internally developed narrative single-player games from online multiplayer releases and games Sony publishes for outside developers.

Category What reporting says What to conclude
PlayStation Studios narrative single-player games Ghost of Yōtei and Saros were named as staying on PS5 in the March reporting; Schreier later reported an internal statement about narrative single-player exclusivity. These reports indicate a pullback, but do not establish the platform plan for every future game.
Online or multiplayer games Marathon and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls were reported as planned for PC. The reports describe these as exceptions to the single-player shift.
Sony-published games developed by partners Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora were described as remaining planned for PC. Publishing by Sony does not by itself mean a game follows the same plan as internally developed PlayStation Studios titles. Check the current listing for each game.

Sony’s US PlayStation PC catalog still lists PC products, including existing releases such as Death Stranding 2. It also directs readers to Sony’s social channels for future PC announcements. The catalog documents available PC games; it is not a promise that unreleased first-party single-player titles will be ported.

How the reporting developed

  • 2020 onward: Sony began bringing prominent PlayStation games to PC, beginning with Horizon Zero Dawn, according to summaries of the 2026 reporting.
  • March 4, 2026: Bloomberg’s anonymous-source report described the planned retreat from PC releases for major PS5 single-player games and named exceptions. Sony declined comment at the time.
  • May 18, 2026: Schreier reported that Hulst had told staff at a town hall that narrative single-player games would be PlayStation exclusive.
  • June 2026: VGC reported that Sony’s 2026 annual report omitted wording included in the prior report about deploying first-party titles to multiple platforms such as PC. That omission is a clue about emphasis, not a policy statement or proof of the plan for every game.
  • June 2026: A Chinese-language report of a Famitsu interview translated SIE CEO Hideaki Nishino as saying platform decisions depend on each game’s characteristics: Sony would emphasize PlayStation for internally developed single-player games while seeking wider reach for live-service multiplayer games on PS5 and PC. The English wording is a secondary translation, not a verified Sony English transcript.

Why Sony might be pulling back—and what is not known

The March reporting attributed concern to some people inside Sony that PC ports could weaken the PS5’s appeal or affect console sales. It also mentioned a concern that PlayStation games might run on future Xbox hardware if that hardware supports PC games. Those are reported internal considerations, not established causes or a complete explanation of Sony’s decision.

Resident Evil 2 - PlayStation 5
  • TERRIFYING ZOMBIES WAITING AROUND EVERY CORNER -- Driven by insatiable hunger, these creatures act on instinct, gnashing their teeth, ripping at flesh, and devouring their victims. The new immersive camera lets you feel their fangs as they sink into your flesh.
  • RACCOON CITY, REBUILT IN INTRICATE DETAIL -- The characters, environments, and story have all been rebuilt from the ground up to create a terrifying world that feels both nostalgic and new.
  • NEW FOR PLAYSTATION5 – Upgraded features new to the PlayStation5 version of the game include a higher frame rate, 3D audio, added ray tracing, and engaging DualSense support for Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers.

Sony’s older public materials provide context for the distinction between single-player and live-service games, but do not confirm the 2026 change. Its 2024 investor presentation described console-and-PC launches for live-service titles, with an MLB The Show exception. Sony’s 2025 corporate report discussed advancing its position in single-player experiences while diversifying live-service offerings. It reported 124 million PlayStation monthly active users as of March 31, 2025; that company-wide figure does not show whether PC ports helped or hurt console sales.

The reports do not establish Sony’s full internal rationale, a permanent universal PC policy, or the future platform for every announced game. They also do not provide a verified original-publisher figure for PC-port revenue or sales. Treat specific game announcements and current platform listings as stronger evidence for an individual title than a general inference from genre or publisher.

Should you wait for a PC version or buy a PS5?

If you want to play a named PlayStation Studios single-player release and Sony has not announced a PC version, waiting carries no guarantee of a port. If you want access as soon as that game is available, a PlayStation console may be the practical choice. If you prefer PC, wait for an official game-specific announcement rather than assuming either that a port is inevitable or that Sony has ruled out all future ports.

  1. Check the game’s current official platform listing and announcement.
  2. Distinguish games developed internally by PlayStation Studios from games Sony publishes for partner studios.
  3. For online and live-service games, check their individual listings; the reporting describes some as continuing to reach PC.
  4. Make the platform decision based on the game you want and the cost of waiting, not on the claim that every PlayStation game is leaving—or returning to—PC.

Sony’s PC catalog notes that PC and console versions are separate products; some PC games require a PlayStation account for certain features. It also says DualSense wired play is supported, while wireless use and feature support vary by title.
