Sony made PlayStation Network sign-in optional for four named PC games: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarök, The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. The change, announced January 29, 2025, applies to those titles—not every PlayStation game on PC. Signing in remains optional and brings account-linked features and rewards.
Which PlayStation PC games can you play without signing in to PSN?
Sony’s January 29, 2025 announcement named these four PC titles:
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- God of War Ragnarök
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered
- Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Sony said a PlayStation Network account would “become optional for these titles on PC.” Santa Monica Studio’s January 30, 2025 Patch 8 note separately confirmed the change for God of War Ragnarök: “Signing into the PlayStation Network will now be optional on God of War Ragnarök PC.”
This is a title-specific policy, not a blanket end to PSN requirements on PC. Sony’s current PC games page says some PlayStation Studios games require an account for certain modes or features. Check the requirements for the particular game and PC version you want to play.

What do you get by signing in?
Sony says signing in can provide trophies and friend-management features. The company also listed these game-specific incentives in its announcement:

These are the rewards Sony described for the named titles. Their availability may depend on the specific game edition or current game details; the announcement does not establish that each incentive is permanent or applies to other editions.

Does optional PSN sign-in mean the games are available in every region?
No. Whether a game requires an account and whether a storefront sells it in a particular country are separate matters. In a June 13, 2025 report, PC Gamer reported that Steam regional restrictions had been removed for at least four Sony games, including God of War Ragnarök, The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The report said Sony had not publicly commented on that regional change. It is not a guarantee of current availability in every country or on every storefront; check the current Steam or Epic Games listing for your region.

Sony’s PC games page lists Steam and Epic Games as PC retailers and provides its account FAQ. Review the current listing for your chosen storefront and region, along with the specific game’s account requirements. A controller does not change whether PSN sign-in is required.
