Sony’s new recommended retail prices for the PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal took effect in the UK and Europe on April 2, 2026. The announced UK prices range from £519.99 for the Digital Edition to £789.99 for PS5 Pro; in Europe, they range from €599.99 to €899.99. These are Sony’s recommended prices, not a guarantee of what a particular retailer charges.
What are the new PS5 prices in the UK and Europe?
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the prices on March 27, 2026, with the UK and Europe changes effective April 2. The figures below are Sony’s recommended retail prices (RRPs), not a survey of current retailer offers.

Sony’s announcement directs buyers in other territories to local retailers or direct.playstation.com, where available. The announcement does not provide one uniform price for every European country, and an RRP does not establish a retailer’s transaction price, stock or current offer.
Which products are included?
PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition
Sony lists separate RRPs for the standard PS5 and Digital Edition. The Digital Edition is not the standard console price, so check the model name when comparing retailer listings.

PS5 Pro
PS5 Pro has its own higher RRP in both markets; it should not be confused with either standard PS5 edition.
PlayStation Portal
Portal is listed in the same announcement, but it is a remote player, not a PS5 console. Sony’s table gives it a separate price.

Why did Sony raise the prices?
Isabelle Tomatis, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice president of global marketing, said the company acted “with continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” She described the increase as a necessary step to continue delivering gaming experiences. That is Sony’s stated rationale; its announcement does not quantify the pressures or identify a more specific cause.

The 2026 announcement is broader than Sony’s April 2025 notice. In 2025, Sony announced a Digital Edition RRP increase for the UK and Europe effective April 14, while saying standard PS5 prices in those markets and PS5 Pro RRPs would remain unchanged at that time. Sony’s August 2022 announcement was another separate change, covering selected markets and increases for both disc and digital PS5 editions in the UK and Europe.
