As of October 8, 2026, the official PlayStation announcements reviewed confirm three Sony-studio games with 2026 release dates: God of War Sons of Sparta, Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine. God of War Sons of Sparta has already launched. God of War Laufey and the Greek trilogy remake were announced without a 2026 date in the cited recaps, so they should not be counted as confirmed 2026 releases. A game coming to PS5 is not automatically a first-party Sony game.
Confirmed Sony studio releases in 2026
The table separates games explicitly attributed to Sony-owned PlayStation studios from titles announced on PlayStation channels whose formal publishing or ownership status is not established by the cited recap. Dates and platforms below reflect those official announcements; they do not establish that the list is exhaustive through October 8, 2026.
| Game | 2026 date | Platform in cited announcement | Studio attribution and status |
|---|---|---|---|
| God of War Sons of Sparta | February 12, 2026; released that day | PS5 | Santa Monica Studio partnered with Mega Cat Studios on the 2D action platformer. PlayStation’s February State of Play recap confirms the launch. |
| Saros | April 30, 2026 | PS5 | Developed by Housemarque. The February recap describes it as a sci-fi shooter. The official Saros announcement gives the date and gameplay details. |
| Marvel’s Wolverine | September 15, 2026 | not stated in the cited June recap | Insomniac Games’ single-player adventure. The June State of Play recap gives the launch date. See the recap. |
What the confirmed dates tell you
Of these three, God of War Sons of Sparta is explicitly described as a collaboration between Santa Monica Studio and Mega Cat Studios; the other two are attributed to Housemarque and Insomniac Games, respectively. The cited announcements identify PS5 for Sons of Sparta and Saros. The cited June recap supplies Wolverine’s date and studio but does not state a platform in the material reviewed here.
God of War announcements without a confirmed 2026 date
God of War Laufey
Santa Monica Studio announced God of War Laufey in the June recap as the next mainline chapter, focused on Faye and coming to PS5. That recap provides no release date. It is therefore announced for PS5, but not a confirmed 2026 release based on that source. The June State of Play recap contains the announcement.

God of War Greek trilogy remake
Santa Monica Studio described the Greek trilogy remake as being in early development in February. The recap gives neither a launch year nor a release date, so it belongs among announced projects rather than the 2026 release list. The February recap is the cited announcement.
PlayStation-announced games that need a separate label
These titles have 2026 dates in PlayStation’s February recap, but the cited recap does not establish the formal publisher or developer ownership relationship needed to count them as Sony studio-first-party games. They are useful context for a broader PlayStation-announced slate, not additions to the strict list above.

| Game | Announced date and platforms | What the cited recap establishes |
|---|---|---|
| MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls | August 6, 2026; PS5 and PC | The February PlayStation recap gives the date, platforms and mentions Episode Mode, but does not establish formal publisher or developer ownership. See the recap. |
| Marathon | March 5, 2026; PS5 | The recap identifies this as Bungie’s title and describes its Server Slam. It does not fully lay out the specific ownership or publishing details, so it is kept separate from the confirmed Sony-studio list. See the recap. |
Why “PS5 game” does not mean “first-party Sony game”
PlayStation State of Play recaps combine announcements from Sony studios, partner developers and outside publishers. For example, the September recap says Where the Seeds Fall is CygamesEdge’s debut and that it is coming to PS5 on November 5, 2026. That platform and date alone do not establish Sony first-party status. The September recap illustrates why platform availability is not a sufficient filter.
For a strict first-party list, count games explicitly attributed to Sony-owned PlayStation studios; label collaborations clearly; and keep partner or publisher status uncertain where the announcement does not settle it. The official recaps reviewed are announcement roundups, not a master release calendar. They do not prove that no additional Sony studio releases or date changes appeared elsewhere before October 8, 2026.
