There is no confirmed US launch of PlayStation Flex. The official materials reviewed describe a UK PS5 leasing service provided by Raylo, but do not announce US availability or a launch date. A lease also does not automatically make the console yours: at the end of the term, you can return or upgrade it, and Raylo may offer a purchase option at its discretion and at a price set then.
What PlayStation Flex is—and who provides it
PlayStation Flex is a UK-facing service that lets customers lease a PlayStation device through Raylo. PlayStation Support calls Raylo a “UK leasing company and trusted partner of PlayStation.” The lease agreement is with Raylo, not Sony; PlayStation says Raylo handles transactions, communications and lease support, including technical and warranty questions. The live PlayStation Flex storefront, operated by Raylo, lists console configurations and examples for monthly rolling, 12-, 24- and 36-month terms. Its displayed prices and offer details can change, so check the listing and the actual agreement before committing. The storefront currently describes £0 upfront payment, a soft credit check, delivery and return features, and return or upgrade choices; eligibility and contract conditions should be verified against the live offer.
Do you own the PS5 after leasing it?
No. PlayStation Support answers the ownership question directly: “No, this is a lease agreement with our partner Raylo.” Leasing does not automatically transfer ownership at the end of the fixed term. The available choices described by PlayStation are to return the device or upgrade; you may also have the option to buy it, but only at Raylo’s discretion and for the price Raylo offers at that time. What does the UK lease include?
PlayStation Support describes a lifetime warranty for a Raylo device while the customer remains an up-to-date paying customer. The stated coverage excludes some cases, including customer-caused or accidental damage. The support page directs customers to Raylo for the full warranty terms, so check those terms—along with exclusions and any return-condition requirements—before signing.
Raylo’s storefront describes delivery and return features, but the practical details that matter are those in the current offer and agreement. Confirm the rules for ending or changing a term, damage, loss or theft, warranty claims, and any fees before deciding. A monthly figure alone does not show the full cost or the risks you take on.

Is leasing cheaper than buying a PS5?
There is no one answer without a specific lease offer, term and purchase price. Compare the total of all lease payments over your chosen term with the current price to buy the same console. Then account for applicable fees or cover only where the current terms establish them, and consider the value of owning the console or being able to resell it. With a lease, you do not automatically own the device at the end.
For dated context, Sony announced these recommended retail prices on March 27, 2026, effective April 2, 2026. They are announced RRP figures, not a statement of current retailer or street prices. Sony’s price announcement

These figures cannot by themselves show whether leasing is cheaper. A fair comparison needs the actual lease term and payments, any verified fees or insurance, current purchase prices, and the value of keeping or reselling a console you buy.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Will PlayStation Flex come to the US?
The official Sony materials cited here establish a UK service, not a US plan. PlayStation’s support page is explicitly UK-focused, and Raylo’s storefront shows UK pricing. Sony’s 2026 retail-price announcement includes US prices, but it is not an announcement of US leasing. There is no confirmed US availability or launch date in these sources, so a US expansion should be treated as unknown—not promised.
Quick Recap
What to check before choosing a lease
- Total cost: Add every payment for the selected term and compare it with the price to buy the same edition. Check the live agreement for any applicable fees or cover.
- Ownership: Buying gives you ownership; leasing does not automatically do so. Any end-of-term purchase option is discretionary and priced by Raylo at that time.
- Flexibility: Compare the monthly rolling and fixed-term choices shown in the current offer, then read the actual return and upgrade rules.
- Support and risk: Read the live warranty, damage, loss or theft, and return-condition terms rather than assuming every issue is covered.
- Availability: The verified Flex service is UK-facing. Do not assume it is available to US customers.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
