When can selected applicants buy?
Tom’s Hardware reports that ticket-holder purchases are scheduled for October 26 through November 2, 2026. That is the reported purchase window, not an application deadline. The exact application closing time is not established in the report.
Does applying guarantee a PS5 Pro?
No guarantee is reported. If applications exceed planned stock, Sony Store Japan would use a lottery; the report gives neither a stock count nor selection odds. Being eligible to apply is therefore different from being selected, and selection is different from completing a purchase during the stated window.
Is this the same as PlayStation’s direct-purchase registration?
No. PlayStation’s separate registration page covers the US, UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Which PS5 is this, and what does it cost in Japan?
The lottery report concerns the PS5 Pro, not the standard PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition. Sony’s UK buying page lists PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, and PS5 Pro as distinct console options; the formats and buying routes differ by model and market. Sony’s UK PS5 buying page shows those product categories.
Sony lists the PS5 Pro’s Japan recommended retail price as ¥137,980, effective April 2, 2026. That is a Japan price, not a confirmed lottery price for another country or a guarantee of the final amount payable. - Confirm the region. This reported lottery is for Sony Store Japan. The US and European invitation registration is not an alternative entry point for it.
- Check the account requirement. The report says applicants need a Sony account registered in Japan.
- Check the reported playtime period. The account must meet the reported 60-hour combined PS4/PS5 threshold within September 27, 2024 to September 27, 2026 at 23:59.
- Verify the official campaign terms and application status with Sony Store Japan. The report does not provide a direct application link or an exact closing time, so do not assume applications remain open based only on the later purchase window.

Why another purchase queue?
The reported lottery is an allocation method for a product with constrained planned stock, not evidence that every buyer will receive a console. Sony reported more than 95 million PS5 hardware units sold in worldwide sell-in cumulatively as of June 30, 2026; sell-in is units shipped into the market, not a count of end-user purchases or proof of current PS5 Pro availability.
