Reviews published in 2017 praised its paint mechanics and level design, while describing its story as comparatively simple. The title “Splasher Reviews” could mean several things, but the available coverage points to the 2017 game; the review scores below are historical, not a fresh evaluation of the game in 2026.
What is Splasher?
Splasher is a 2D platform game set in the Inkorp paint factory. Its premise, as described in the cited reviews, follows a worker trying to stop the factory’s boss, Le Docteur, and rescue other workers. The central attraction is not a complex story but a paint cannon that turns color into a movement and level-solving tool.
Red ink lets the player move along walls and ceilings; yellow ink produces a large bounce; and water washes ink away. Running, jumping, shooting, and using these effects in combination form the core of play. The paint system affects traversal and hazards as well as combat, giving the platforming its distinctive hook. Pocket Gamer’s 2017 review emphasizes the fast pace and the way the mechanics set the game apart from a more conventional platformer.
What did reviewers like—and what did they find less compelling?
The strongest praise in the cited reviews is for the relationship between the paint abilities and the level design: the colors are not just weapons, but tools that shape how a player navigates each stage. Nintendo World Report reviewer Perry Burkum wrote that “The gameplay and the level design are the two most impressive things featured in Splasher, with a sort of synergy created between the two.” Nintendo World Report’s review discusses the Switch controls and paint types as part of that experience.

The premise is relatively straightforward, and the reviews focus more on platforming than narrative depth. Pocket Gamer’s coverage also addresses challenge, pacing, and replayability, but those judgments belong to its 2017 review rather than a current hands-on assessment. If a story-rich adventure is your priority, the available evidence gives little reason to choose Splasher for its narrative; if you want a platformer built around expressive traversal mechanics, the paint system is the better reason to consider it.

Is Splasher available on Nintendo Switch?
The cited coverage identifies a Nintendo Switch version, and Nintendo Life lists a Switch eShop edition. View Nintendo Life’s Switch listing. Switch Scores also identifies the game as a Switch platformer and shows an Amazon US purchase option, but that listing alone does not establish whether a suitable copy is currently in stock, whether it is physical, or what it costs. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to judge whether it is right for you
- Consider it if: you enjoy 2D platformers where movement abilities interact with level layouts, and you like experimenting with mechanics rather than relying on combat alone.
- Look closely at the reviews if: you care most about difficulty, control feel, or replay value. The cited reviews discuss these topics, but they are historical reviews and do not establish how the game feels to every player.
- Do not buy on the strength of an assumed current deal: the available Switch purchase listing does not verify current price, stock, or format.
For a review comparison, keep platform and edition in view, then focus on controls, movement, level design, challenge, and replay value. The two scored reviews here are from 2017, so their numbers are useful as snapshots of those outlets’ judgments at release, not proof of a 2026 re-review.
