The online broadcast previewed third-party and indie games, PlayStation Studios updates and an extended look at Saros. Sony announced its Tokyo Game Show booth and stage program separately, so the State of Play was not itself the show’s in-person TGS program.
When did the September 2025 State of Play air?
Sony announced the broadcast on September 23. It was scheduled for September 24 at 2 p.m. PT, 5 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. CEST, which was September 25 at 6 a.m. JST. The Japanese announcement said the show would run for more than 35 minutes. Sony’s Japanese announcement lists the Japan time and broadcast details.
Sony named its global PlayStation YouTube channels in Japanese and English, along with its English-language Twitch channel, as places to watch. The schedule is historical; these times refer to the 2025 broadcast, not a forthcoming event.
What did Sony preview?
Before the broadcast, Sony said viewers could expect new looks at third-party and indie titles, updates from PlayStation Studios, and an extended presentation of Saros, Housemarque’s upcoming game. The Japanese announcement specified that the Saros gameplay segment would be approximately five minutes.

The timing placed the State of Play immediately before Tokyo Game Show’s public days, but Sony described the broadcast and its TGS activities as separate programs. The State of Play was an online presentation of game news. Sony’s TGS plans centered on its booth at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, including hands-on games and scheduled stage activities.
