South of Midnight Premium Edition players could start the game on April 3, 2025, five days before its general launch on April 8. That launch window has ended. The game later expanded to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on March 31, 2026.
When did Premium Edition players get access?
Compulsion Games set Premium Edition early access for April 3, 2025. The general release followed on April 8, 2025, so the early-access period was a launch benefit, not an ongoing way to start playing early. Compulsion’s official game page describes access for Premium Edition owners and qualifying Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscribers who purchased the Premium Upgrade.
Xbox Wire described the offer in its January 23, 2025 release-date announcement: “If you want to immerse yourself into the macabre and fantastical world of South of Midnight early, get the Premium Edition to play up to 5 days early, and get access to digital extras.” That was a historical offer for the April 2025 launch window, not a present-day entitlement. Xbox Wire’s announcement also set April 8 as the release date.
