Spiritfall is a single-player action roguelite built around platform-fighter-style combat: launch enemies, chain directional attacks, and use the arena as part of your combo. It is a strong fit if you want fast runs and room to experiment with powers and weapons; it is less clearly suited to players looking for multiplayer or a story-led adventure. What is Spiritfall?
Developed by Gentle Giant and published by Team17, Spiritfall combines a roguelite run structure with combat inspired by platform fighters. Each run sends you through a randomly generated map, where you battle enemies, collect divine powers, and try to assemble a build that works. When you return to the Sanctum, resources can be used for upgrades and weapon unlocks. How does the combat feel different?
The defining idea is using directional attacks and movement to control where enemies go. You can string combos, launch foes, and slam them against walls, making the space around you part of the fight rather than simply a backdrop. That gives Spiritfall a different moment-to-moment emphasis from action roguelites centered mainly on dodging and landing isolated attacks: positioning and keeping a sequence going matter.
The combination is a matter of taste. Players who enjoy responsive movement, combo experimentation, and the feel of a platform fighter may find the combat’s central hook compelling. If you prefer slower encounters, a more conventional weapon-action loop, or an experience built around multiplayer, the available Steam listing describes Spiritfall as single-player and does not list multiplayer. What do you do between runs?
A run’s randomized map and divine powers encourage trying different combinations, while returning to the Sanctum connects that short-term experimentation to longer-term upgrades and weapon unlocks. In practical terms, a failed or finished run can still contribute resources toward progression. The game’s appeal therefore rests on both the immediate combat and the desire to try another run with a changed build.
Steam’s listing describes the run loop and progression, but does not establish a particular level of story depth. Treat Spiritfall first as a combat- and build-focused roguelite rather than buying it on the expectation of a richly developed narrative. Steam store page

Is Spiritfall worth playing?
It is worth considering if your priorities are quick, directional combat, randomized runs, and ongoing build experimentation. Its clearest differentiator is the platform-fighter influence: combos, launches, and wall-splats give fights a more physical, positional character than a standard action-roguelite pitch suggests.
Steam’s store page displayed a snapshot of 92% positive purchaser reviews from 1,849 reviews in results returned on October 8, 2026. That is a changing Steam user-review figure, not a critic aggregate, and should not be read as a fixed rating. The page also reproduces short review blurbs from publications: The Escapist called it “smoother and more satisfying to play than a lot of fully-released AAA games”; Game Developer praised its “Unique combination of roguelike and platform fighter elements”; and Alpha Beta Gamer described “fast and fluid gameplay” and “plenty of replayability.” These are quotations displayed on the Steam listing, not a substitute for deciding whether its combat style suits you. What platforms is Spiritfall on?
Steam lists Spiritfall for PC and marks it Steam Deck Verified, with full controller support. A Steam Community announcement index reports console availability on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Does Spiritfall have accessibility and language options?
On Steam, listed accessibility features include adjustable difficulty, save-anytime, camera-comfort options, custom audio controls, and a keyboard-only option. Steam also lists interface and subtitle support in 13 languages; it does not list full audio in all those languages. Is there a physical Nintendo Switch edition?
A secondary reference reports a limited physical Nintendo Switch edition associated with Super Rare Games, but that report alone does not confirm that copies are currently available or verify the original release details.
