What is Frosty Fest in Splatoon 3?
Frosty Fest is a seasonal, holiday-themed Splatfest: players choose a team based on the event’s question and compete for it in-game. Nintendo describes the event as a chance for Inklings and Octolings to dress up and take part in a holiday-themed Splatfest. Its exact question and presentation can change by edition.

When was the latest Frosty Fest?
Nintendo’s 2026 event pages give a January 10–12 window, with regional time-zone renderings. Nintendo Australia’s recap identifies the teams as Friends, Family, and Solo and says Team Solo won. Nintendo UK lists the event as January 11 at 01:00 CET through January 13 at 00:59 CET. Both describe a completed event; no later Frosty Fest date is established here.

How to claim the 2024 Frosty Fest gear
Nintendo’s North American 2024 announcement listed these five free in-game rewards:
- Golden Gala Masque
- Octopearl Crown
- Coral Wreath
- Dapperdasher Hat
- Frosty Fest Splashtag Banner
- Open the Frosty Fest article in Nintendo Switch game news.
- Follow the article’s instructions to launch Splatoon 3.
- Collect the items from the Lobby terminal.
Nintendo said the game needed to be updated and that players needed either the game card inserted or the digital version installed. The announcement explains how to claim that edition’s items; it does not establish that they remain available to every region or account now.

Did Frosty Fest require the Expansion Pass or Nintendo Switch Online?
Expansion Pass
Nintendo’s 2024 announcement said the Expansion Pass was needed to visit Inkopolis Plaza during its Frosty Fest makeover. It did not state that the DLC was required to participate in the Splatfest itself. The Expansion Pass is sold separately.
Nintendo Switch Online and 2026 rewards
Nintendo UK’s support page says a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership had to remain active when special icon parts were distributed, and the player had to participate in the event at least once. That page scheduled icon-part distribution for January 15–February 5, 2026. Nintendo Australia separately said eligible members who played during the event earned 100 Platinum Points and reported icon-part distribution from January 19–29, 2026. These are distinct Nintendo-published reward details and date windows.

Can you still join Frosty Fest or get its rewards?
The latest confirmed event described here ended in January 2026, so its Splatfest is not currently underway. The cited announcements do not establish universal current availability of the 2024 gear or 2026 rewards across regions and accounts. Check the in-game Lobby terminal and Nintendo Switch game news for any reward claim that is still offered to your account.
What you need to play
Frosty Fest takes place in Splatoon 3 on Nintendo Switch. If you do not already own the game, Nintendo identifies it as a Switch game available as a game card or digital copy. Event-specific DLC and membership requirements should not be confused with the base requirement to have and launch the game.
