Which platforms can you play it on?
EA’s current purchase page lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. On PC, EA links to the EA app, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Switch 2 was added after the original December 2024 announcement, which named PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as the launch platforms. Check the relevant storefront for availability in your region.
EA says cross-play is supported across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. That means players can cooperate across those platform families; the game is built around two-player co-op rather than solo play.

How much does Split Fiction cost?
Electronic Arts announced a US launch price of $49.99 on December 12, 2024, in its release announcement. This is a launch-era US price, not a current worldwide price. Store prices vary by country, platform, taxes, and discounts; check your platform’s listing for the price available to you.
EA’s purchase page labels its offering “Standard Edition.” The available sources do not establish a complete worldwide list of physical formats or special editions, so consult the individual store listing for the format and edition being sold. A July 2025 Windows Central report documented physical copies at Amazon during a temporary sale; that past report does not establish today’s price or stock.

Do both players need to buy the game?
No. Friend’s Pass lets a player who owns the full game invite one friend to join without that friend purchasing another full copy. The invited player must install Friend’s Pass, have persistent internet access, and use an applicable platform account. What kind of game is it?
Split Fiction is a two-player cooperative adventure about writers Mio and Zoe, who become trapped in stories drawn from their imaginations after a machine targets their creative ideas. Its contrasting science-fiction and fantasy worlds mix platforming, stealth, puzzles, and other gameplay mechanics. The game cannot be played solo, according to PlayStation’s FAQ.

For local play on PlayStation, PlayStation says two DualSense controllers are required. Cross-play is an alternative for friends playing on supported platforms, subject to the game’s online requirements.
