To farm artifacts in STALKER 2, search anomalous fields with an artifact detector, use bolts to reveal hazards along your route, and collect artifacts once your detector locates them. Echo provides directional and distance clues; Veles pinpoints an artifact’s location. The official guidance does not establish a universal artifact respawn timer, so treat claims about emissions or save-and-reload rerolls as unverified community advice.
Where to find artifacts
Search anomalous fields: areas where multiple anomalies cluster together. GSC Game World’s official anomaly guide describes an anomalous field as “a cluster of many anomalies in a small area” and identifies these dangerous areas as places to find artifacts.
A practical artifact-farming loop
- Prepare before leaving a hub. Check your supplies, keep room in your backpack, and make sure your equipment is in usable condition. GSC’s beginner guide recommends taking supplies on expeditions and warns that an overloaded backpack makes escape harder.
- Find an anomalous field. Look for a cluster of hazards rather than expecting artifacts to be in ordinary containers or scattered across every area.
- Probe the route with bolts. Throw bolts ahead to trigger and reveal anomalies before walking into them. Some hazards stay discharged for only a few seconds, so move through an opening promptly instead of assuming the route will remain safe.
- Search with your detector active. Follow its signals as you move through the field. The detector helps locate the artifact, but it does not make the surrounding anomalies harmless.
- Approach carefully and collect the artifact. At close range, the detector reveals it so you can pick it up. Check its effects before equipping it.
- Choose whether to equip or sell it. Keep an artifact when its benefits are worth its drawbacks for your needs; otherwise, a merchant may buy it.
How artifact detectors work
Detectors communicate an artifact’s proximity in different ways. The official artifact guide explains that Echo uses sound and light signals, with flashing frequency indicating direction and distance. Veles provides the artifact’s exact location. You do not need Veles to collect an artifact: GSC says, “Any detector, when approaching a critical distance to an artifact, will reveal it, allowing you to pick it up.”

How to use bolts around anomalies
Bolts are for testing the hazards ahead, not for finding artifacts. Throw one into the route you plan to take; it can trigger and reveal anomalies before you step forward. Because some anomalies remain discharged only briefly, use the opening immediately and continue to watch for hazards as you move.

Should you equip or sell an artifact?
Artifacts can help with protection, stamina, or healing, but may also have harmful effects such as radiation. Consider the specific benefit alongside the drawback and your current needs before equipping one. If you sell it, the official guide says the price depends on the artifact’s rarity and the merchant’s attitude.

The official guidance cited here does not specify a universal respawn timer or guarantee that artifacts return after emissions. A Steam Community guide posted on 2025-04-02 and updated on 2025-05-04 claims that some sites can be revisited after emissions and suggests save-and-reload rerolls, but this is community advice—not an official, guaranteed mechanic. Do not plan a reliable farming route around a particular respawn interval or reroll result.
