What feature did STALKER 2 confirm?
An October 30, 2024 report said GSC Game World had confirmed mod support for PC and Xbox Series X/S, and attributed the toolkit announcement to technical producer Evgeniy Kulik in an interview with Radio Times Gaming. The announcement has since moved beyond a promise: GSC documents two player-facing mod routes and provides a creator toolkit. The available documentation does not establish comparative catalog size or reliability between those routes.
How do I install STALKER 2 mods?
GSC lists Steam Workshop and mod.io as ways to access modifications. Use the route that hosts the mod you want or that you already use; the official materials do not identify one as universally better.

GSC’s Patch 1.5 support article is the official reference for the supported access routes. The creator guide also recommends testing a mod in the game itself before release; that is a useful reminder that a listing or successful upload alone does not establish that a mod works as intended.
Can you make mods for STALKER 2?
Yes. GSC directs creators to download its Zone Kit and publish through Steam Workshop or mod.io. The official Zone Kit support guide lists ownership of the base game and approximately 700 GB of disk space among the prerequisites. The guide does not state a publication year for that storage figure.

What the Zone Kit can and cannot do
The guide says level editing is a work in progress. That means the toolkit should not be treated as a way to freely edit every part of the game world. The available documentation does not support a broader comparison with unofficial or third-party tools.
GSC’s creator guide recommends testing mods in the actual game before publishing. Creators should check that their work behaves as expected in the environment players will use, rather than relying only on the toolkit view.

What about the planned Zone Kit update?
GSC’s FAQ says a Phase 2 update for the Zone Kit was planned alongside Update 2.0 and Cost of Hope, so modmakers could check and update their mods. The FAQ statement is a plan, not confirmation that the rollout has completed. The available official information does not verify its status as of October 8, 2026.
