The RSI support homepage showed current support notices but no active Free Fly article in its visible promoted list, and the RSI Comm-Link listing showed recent October communications and September event posts without confirming a live October Free Fly or its vehicle lineup. Those pages do not establish that no event exists; they leave the live-event claim unverified.
For a definite answer, look for an event-specific RSI Free Fly page or a Free Fly Knowledge Base article in Announcements. RSI identifies its website and recent Comm-Link announcements as places to check for event information. Confirm the dates, participation terms, and vehicle list in that event’s own announcement rather than relying on a headline or a previous event’s details.
How Free Fly access works
Star Citizen does not have a standing free trial. RSI periodically runs limited-time Free Fly events, during which players can log in to the Star Citizen Alpha test servers without a Game Package on their RSI account. A Game Package is therefore not required for access during a qualifying event, but the access is temporary and tied to that event.

RSI says it provides everyone with a basic in-game ship during a Free Fly, but the model varies by event. Additional ships or vehicles may be available to test-fly under event-specific terms; do not assume that every vehicle is available to every participant.
How to verify dates, eligibility, and available vehicles
- Open RSI’s Knowledge Base and look in Announcements for a current Free Fly article.
- Check RSI’s recent Comm-Link announcements for the event page or announcement.
- Read the event-specific details for its start and end times, participation requirements, and whether a Game Package is needed.
- Check which ship is provided to all participants and which additional vehicles are available to test-fly, including any dates or schedule restrictions.
RSI’s support article, “Does Star Citizen offer a free trial?”, was updated May 27, 2026. It says Free Fly events generally last a week or slightly longer, depending on the associated in-game event. That is a general pattern, not a confirmed duration or schedule for an October 2026 event.
