RSI’s published ship page lists a seven-person crew and 96 SCU of cargo, but those are design specifications—not proof of live-game performance or a release date. RSI’s listed promotion has ended, and the available official sources do not establish that the ship is currently flight-ready or in production.
What are the Perseus specs?
RSI’s ship page lists these dimensions and crew figures for the Perseus. They are published specifications, not independent measurements of a live-game ship.

RSI lists two manned turrets, each with 2 S8 main weapons and 2 S3 hardpoints; two remote turrets with 2 S3 weapons each; six point-defense turrets; and two groups of 10 S5 torpedoes. The additional manually loaded torpedoes described in the Q&A bring the planned total to 40 S5 torpedoes. RSI’s Perseus ship page and its May 25, 2026 Q&A are the sources for these figures.
What changed from the original Perseus concept?
In its May 2026 Q&A, RSI described several revisions since concept. The changes are part of the ship’s published design, not a report of tested in-game behavior.

- Removing the center walkway raised cargo capacity from the concept’s 50 SCU to 96 SCU.
- Two rooms beside the cargo bay and torpedo launcher provide space for 20 additional S5 torpedoes, which RSI says are loaded manually. Combined with the two turret groups, that makes 40 S5 torpedoes.
- The engineering space and captain’s quarters switched positions, and a third exit was added behind the bridge.
What is the Perseus designed to do in combat?
RSI presents the Perseus as a patrol and blockade gunship focused on hunting large ships. The 2020 Q&A described it as heavily armored for its size but less powerful than a capital ship. That Q&A also identified fighter swarms as a weakness: the large, manually operated turrets were not expected to traverse quickly enough to track fast fighters. This is concept-era design guidance, not a current combat test. RSI’s December 9, 2020 Q&A is the source for that earlier description.
How does it compare with the Polaris and Idris?
RSI’s 2026 Q&A says a well-crewed Polaris or Idris would outmatch one Perseus in a head-to-head fight. It suggests two or three Perseuses could pose a more serious challenge because of their smaller size and relative maneuverability. RSI also distinguishes the Perseus’s direct-fire cannons from torpedoes, which can be intercepted. These are developer comparisons of intended design, not results from a controlled battle test or a comprehensive ranking of current in-game performance.

Is the Perseus good against fighters?
The answer depends on which design description you mean. In 2020, RSI identified fighter swarms and limited turret traverse as a weakness. By 2026, RSI had added S3 weapons to the main turrets and six point-defense turrets to the design. The later changes indicate an intended improvement in defensive coverage, but the sources do not establish how well the ship performs against fighters in-game.
Is the RSI Perseus out yet?
The official material reviewed here does not establish that the Perseus is flight-ready, currently in production, or scheduled for release. RSI’s December 2020 Q&A said it was not in the vehicle production pipeline at that time and warned that development plans could change. The later design Q&A documents revisions, but does not confirm a current production stage or delivery date. RSI’s loaner FAQ, updated February 17, 2026, explains the general policy for ships that are not flight-ready; it does not establish the Perseus’s current loaner assignment.

When will the Perseus be available?
RSI’s ship page marks its listed promotion as ended and says, “This vehicle may become available in future events.” The page does not establish a future sale date or current price. Availability should therefore be checked against RSI’s official ship page and event announcements rather than inferred from the Q&A or older promotion details.

RSI’s project document and concept brochure provide fictional Star Citizen lore, not real-world history. The project document describes an older ship associated with Operation Mandrake and says the success of the UEES Achilles helped prompt RSI to produce a civilian model. The brochure places the original gunships in the fictional late 2520s. RSI’s Project Perseus document and concept brochure are the sources for that lore.
