Star Wars: Galactic Racer was announced at The Game Awards 2025 and launched worldwide on October 6, 2026. Fuse Games is developing the arcade racer with Lucasfilm Games; Lucasfilm says Fuse’s leadership has worked on the Need for Speed and Burnout franchises.
Who is making Star Wars: Galactic Racer?
Fuse Games is developing Star Wars: Galactic Racer in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. Steam lists Secret Mode as the game’s publisher. The studio connection that prompted the comparison in the announcement’s original framing is specific: Lucasfilm Games VP and GM Douglas Reilly described Fuse’s leaders as veterans of work on Need for Speed and Burnout, calling the studio a strong fit for bringing Star Wars racing back to players. Lucasfilm’s interview with Reilly and Fuse Games was published April 30, 2026; it does not mean the new game is itself a sequel to either racing series.

What kind of racing game is it?
Set in the lawless Outer Rim after the Empire’s fall, the game centers on the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit backed by syndicates. Players take the role of Shade, racing for glory and revenge. Official descriptions characterize it as a runs-based arcade racer with a story-driven campaign and competitive multiplayer.
Craft, routes, and progression
The craft classes include landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers. The game combines route and event choices with vehicle setup and upgrades. The gameplay announcement showed Sentinel One, Jakku, Ando Prime, and Lantaana. Lucasfilm Games executive producer Craig Derrick said the goal was a racing experience that is “cinematic, skill-driven, and unmistakably Star Wars.” The official gameplay reveal provides the studio’s description of the game and its locations.

See the official game page and Amazon Game Studios’ Luna announcement.

Lucasfilm’s endorsement points to relevant experience: Reilly specifically links Fuse’s leadership to established racing franchises, and the game’s announced format is an arcade racer. That background is useful context, but it is not a substitute for judging this game’s handling, balance, or performance on a particular platform.
