Yes: Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched on Amazon Luna on October 6, 2026, the same day as its worldwide release. Amazon says eligible Prime members with Luna access can play the single-player campaign at no additional cost. That makes it a notable day-one cloud-streaming release—but one example is not enough to show that the video game industry is changing how it launches games.
Can you play Star Wars: Galactic Racer on Luna with Prime?
Amazon Game Studios says the game’s single-player campaign is available on Luna at no additional cost to Prime members in regions where Luna is available with Prime. “Free” therefore means included with an eligible Prime membership; it does not mean free to everyone or available worldwide. Check Luna availability for your territory before relying on access.
Amazon’s announcement specifically identifies the single-player campaign as included. Although it describes Arcade and Scenarios as modes in the game, it does not explicitly confirm that those modes are part of the Luna offering.
What makes this launch notable?
The Luna release arrived alongside the game’s worldwide launch on October 6, 2026. Amazon says Luna players can start the campaign without owning a console or waiting for a lengthy download. Those are practical access advantages of cloud streaming, not evidence of a measured performance or cost advantage over other ways to play.

Jeff Gattis, Amazon’s Head of Gaming, called the launch the first time Luna players could join a game “from day one.” That is Amazon’s characterization of its own service, rather than an independently established history of cloud-game launches. Amazon Game Studios’ announcement gives the company’s full description of the launch and access conditions.
What kind of racing game is it?
Amazon describes Star Wars: Galactic Racer as a runs-based racing adventure set early in the New Republic era. Players take the role of Shade and compete in the Galactic League, an underground racing circuit. The campaign includes choices about routes and events, vehicle upgrades, and building a racing setup.

Vehicles and locations
The announcement names landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers, which Amazon says have distinct handling. Podracers compete only against other podracers because of their speed. Named locations include Jakku, Ando Prime, and Sentinel I, and familiar racer Sebulba returns.
Other modes and developer
Amazon describes Arcade events as short challenges and Scenarios as longer runs with different rules and characters. These are game details, not confirmation that every mode is included in Luna access. Amazon identifies Fuse Games as the developer and describes the studio as founded by racing-game veterans whose credits include Burnout and Need for Speed.

Does the Luna launch prove a step change in game releases?
It shows that a major game could be offered through cloud streaming on its worldwide release day, with the campaign included for eligible Prime members. That is a meaningful distribution example: some players can begin without buying a console or waiting for a game download.
It does not establish that publishers will broadly adopt the approach, or that it improves sales, player retention, or profitability. Creative Bloq’s coverage of the launch reports availability on PS5 and PC and discusses the possible industry significance, but the evidence available here supports a milestone—not a proven industry-wide shift.
