Will Sawyer praises its handling and run-based campaign, but says a narrow-feeling planet roster and a repetitive, difficult final act blunt the finish. The verdict is his, based on a PS5 review playthrough—not a consensus score.
How the racing feels
Sawyer describes Galactic Racer as an arcade racer built around fast drifting, afterburners and hazardous courses. Its three repulsorcraft classes—landspeeders, speeder bikes and skim speeders—handle differently, giving players distinct ways to approach a race. The fun, in his account, comes from balancing speed with control: push hard to reach the front, but risk a crash that can cost more than a single event.

The review compares the accessible, drift-heavy handling more to Mario Kart than Gran Turismo, and frames the game’s speed and design through Fuse Games’ Burnout legacy. Those are the reviewer’s comparisons, not claims that Galactic Racer is a simulation racer or a direct continuation of Burnout.
Sawyer also singles out the tactile pre-race sequence and the way the game makes racing choices feel consequential. On PS5, he reports adaptive-trigger feedback; that observation applies to his PS5 playthrough, not necessarily to other platforms.

Campaign: meaningful choices, demanding retries
The campaign spans three acts and is organized into runs called tours. On each tour, players pick branching event paths and upgrades. The choices shape both the route through the competition and the vehicle build, echoing the run-based structure Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster described in an official interview.
A tour can end if the player loses the League Token or is wrecked, sending them back to retry. That creates a clear trade-off: a risky choice may help secure the lead, but failure can undo progress through the run. The structure gives individual races stakes beyond their finish order, though it also makes the campaign more punishing than a sequence of independent events.

What works—and what wears thin
Speed, handling and atmosphere
Sawyer’s strongest praise is for the core sensation of racing: the vehicles feel fast, drifting is satisfying, and risk-and-reward decisions give the events tension. He also likes the characterful Star Wars setting and the pre-race presentation.
Planet and course variety
The review counts six planets and finds that selection limited for a competition billed as the Galactic League. Some circuits, Sawyer says, begin to blend together. The game has different vehicle classes and event modes, but those do not fully offset his concern about the range of places and courses.

- Marvel’s Wolverine is a new action-packed adventure from Insomniac Games
- Play as Wolverine and Ravage enemies with explosive brutality and unleash razor-sharp adamantium claws to deploy fast, fluid attacks and overcome impossible odds
- An Original, Emotionally Charged Story. Beneath Wolverine’s gruff exterior and violent temperament is a man fighting for a cause greater than himself
- A Global, Adrenaline-Fueled Journey where you slice into enemies across detailed locales such as the frosted Canadian Wilderness, the narrow streets of Tokyo, and the high and low districts of the island nation of Madripoor
A tougher, abrupt final act
Sawyer finds Act 3 less varied: it repeats the planet order and raises the difficulty, making the closing stretch feel more repetitive and demanding. He also criticizes the campaign’s abrupt ending. These are the review’s assessments of the campaign, rather than independently measured difficulty or length.
Modes and review basis
Beyond the campaign, Sawyer says he tried Scenarios, Arcade and multiplayer. GamesRadar+ reports that he spent over 30 hours playing, completed the campaign and reviewed the PS5 version using a publisher-provided code. That context describes the publication’s review process; it should not be read as our own playtime or as evidence of performance on other platforms.
