Spoilers for the full main story of Star Wars Outlaws follow. In the final main quest, “Revelator,” Kay boards an Imperial Star Destroyer to save her crew. She frees ND-5 from Jaylen Vrax’s control and helps bring Jaylen down. The promised payday gives way to a more personal resolution: Kay ends the story with her companions, not the fortune the heist was meant to secure.
What happens at the end of Star Wars Outlaws?
The finale unfolds in “Revelator.” After Jaylen Vrax betrays the crew, he takes ND-5, Asara and the codex aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer Revelator, leaving Kay trapped in an escape pod. Her surviving allies help her reach the ship, where the rescue effort becomes a confrontation with Jaylen’s plan and the truth about the brothers’ relationship. ND-5 is not simply a captive waiting to be rescued: Jaylen uses a restraining bolt to force the droid to obey him. Kay ultimately frees ND-5 from that control. The crew escapes aboard the Trailblazer, and Jaylen is defeated in the concluding battle involving the Star Destroyer. The story’s central resolution is ND-5’s freedom and the end of Jaylen’s control over him.
Does Kay get the fortune from the heist?
The ending does not deliver the fortune as the payoff Kay’s original plan promised. Instead, Kay is left with her companions. That shift makes the finale less about securing a score than about what Kay has come to value and whom she chooses to trust.

Interpretation: Kay’s arc can be read as a move away from isolation and the belief that money alone will buy freedom, toward relying on a crew and choosing people over a payday. That reading fits the themes creative director Julian Gerighty described in a StarWars.com interview: he called the intended character story a coming-of-age tale about “a petty thief that grows up to be a real outlaw,” and said its thematic thread was the desire to be “Completely free. Free to decide what to do, where to do it, and who to do it with.” These are Gerighty’s comments about the game’s aims, not dialogue from the ending.
Does reputation change the ending?
Kay’s relationships with the syndicates can affect which factions support her during the final battle. Ubisoft describes syndicate standing as a relationship the player can influence on its official game page. That variation concerns battlefield support; the core character resolution remains Kay freeing ND-5 and Jaylen being defeated.

The available ending descriptions do not establish a separate branch that reverses those events. It is more accurate to distinguish the fixed story outcome from variable faction assistance than to call the outcomes “good” and “bad” endings.
Where does the ending fit in Star Wars chronology?
Star Wars Outlaws is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, a period Ubisoft discusses in its official game information and in a development feature about working with Lucasfilm Games. The story brings Kay, her longtime companion Nix and BX Commando droid ND-5 into a criminal underworld that includes Jaylen Vrax and Sliro, head of Zerek Besh.

What happens after the main story?
A September 2024 developer interview says players can return to the open world after finishing the main story and take on optional side missions. The same interview noted that ND-5 still displayed the restraining bolt after the story at that time; that is a dated visual observation, not a guarantee about the game’s current build. GamesRadar’s interview provides that post-game context.
For an optional story set before the game, publisher Del Rey’s synopsis for Star Wars Outlaws: Low Red Moon follows Jaylen and ND-5 before the events of the game. It is not needed to understand the ending.
