What happened to some PS5 early-access players?
Star Wars Outlaws standard release was scheduled for August 30, 2024. Ubisoft’s pre-launch roadmap offered up to three days of early access, beginning August 27, to Gold Edition and Ultimate Edition buyers and Ubisoft+ Premium subscribers. The reported save warning concerned PS5 players who had accessed an outdated version during that window; it was not a warning that every PS5 player, every save, or players on other platforms were affected.

In the reproduced email, Ubisoft told the affected players to update the game and start a new save to avoid potential issues and progression blockers. The source available for the message is a player-posted reproduction, rather than an Ubisoft-hosted copy. It does not establish how many players received the email or provide a complete technical explanation of the underlying issue.
What did Ubisoft offer after asking players to restart?
Ubisoft acknowledged that telling players to restart during early access made for a poor experience and apologized. The reproduced email said the make-good was an in-game Trailblazer trinket and 100 Ubisoft Connect Units. It was not cash compensation or a refund, and the available account does not establish a cash value for either item.

How Ubisoft described the game’s launch later
In a September 25, 2024 financial update, Ubisoft characterized Outlaws’ initial sales as “softer than expected,” while saying the game had received solid ratings. Ubisoft reported a Metacritic score of 76 and user scores of 3.9/5 across its first-party and Epic stores at that time. Those are company-reported 2024 figures, not current scores.
In July 2025 reporting on Ubisoft’s annual shareholder meeting, PC Gamer quoted Ubisoft Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Yves Guillemot saying, “The game had a few items that still needed to be polished [at launch].” The bracketed words are PC Gamer’s editorial insertion. Guillemot was also quoted as saying, “They were polished and debugged in the early weeks after release, but it did affect sales volumes.” His comments address launch polish and sales; they do not provide a technical account of the PS5 save warning.

What later patches show—and what they don’t
Ubisoft’s later patch notes document continued support, but they do not prove that every launch issue was fixed or establish the current status of any bug.
Title Update 1.3.0
In its notes for Title Update 1.3.0, Ubisoft introduced an official bug reporter and listed fixes that included a crash when selecting New Game, stability and FPS-drop improvements, and a PS5 crash involving Electrobinoculars.

Title Update 1.5.0
Title Update 1.5.0 listed performance, gameplay, user-interface, and quest fixes. Its introduction also said Ubisoft was investigating foliage flickering on PS5 Pro and some crashes affecting Luna and GeForce Now players. These statements describe the issues noted in those historical patch notes, not confirmed bugs in the game today.
