A reported Ubisoft email in August 2024 told some Star Wars Outlaws players on PS5 who had accessed an older game version to update to version 1.000.002 and start a new save. The message warned that continuing with a prior save could lead to issues and progression blockers. It was not shown to apply to every PS5 player, and the available sources do not provide a guaranteed way to recover progress from an affected save.
What the reported Ubisoft email told players
On August 27, 2024, a player post reproduced an email attributed to Ubisoft about an older version of Star Wars Outlaws on PS5. Contemporary GameSpot coverage also reported the warning. The email asked recipients to confirm they were on version 1.000.002, then start a new save. Its wording was: “Once you’ve confirmed you have the latest version, please start a new save to fully enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as our team intended.”

The reproduced message also warned that players who continued with a prior save “will unfortunately face issues and progression blockers.” In this context, “start a new save” means beginning a new game save rather than carrying on with the older one. Community posts used questions such as “Anyone else get an email stating to update and start a new save?” and “I have to start a new game?!” Those posts show individual players’ uncertainty, not how many people received the message.
Who was affected—and what is not established
The notice was reported for some PS5 players who had accessed an older build. The available reporting does not establish that all PS5 owners, all existing saves, or even every player who had used an older version were affected. Nor does the evidence identify a definitive technical cause or provide a verified save-recovery procedure.

What to do if you are checking an old PS5 save
This August 2024 message is historical. It does not, by itself, show that an old save is currently unsafe or that every player should restart. If the question applies to your copy, separate the version check from the save decision:

- Consider when the save began. The warning concerned players who had accessed an older build, but the reproduced message does not define exactly which saves or build histories triggered it.
- Seek guidance for your specific case. If you received the email or still have a save you are unsure about, consult Ubisoft support before abandoning it. The reported message does not establish a safe way to continue an old save or guarantee that progress can be recovered.
PlayStation Support can help with console menus and save-data navigation, but the sources do not identify a PlayStation setting or repair step that resolves this particular warning.

Ubisoft announced cross-progression and saving through Ubisoft Connect between platforms in Title Update 1.1.2 on September 10, 2024. That later feature announcement does not establish that Ubisoft Connect fixed the earlier save warning or restored progress from a save affected by it. The game is available on PS5; Ubisoft’s official game page lists the platform.
