Spoilers for campaign objectives and progression. The Star Wars: Squadrons campaign alternates between New Republic and Imperial pilots a few months after Return of the Jedi. This walkthrough covers the prologue and all 14 main missions, with practical priorities for getting unstuck. Mission names and count follow a 2026 secondary guide, not an official EA mission list; if its route advice conflicts with your game, follow the mission briefing, target markers, and objective log.
Before you launch: difficulty, controls, and power
The campaign also teaches the game’s flight and combat systems. If combat is getting in the way of learning the story or controls, choose Story difficulty; EA describes it as offering little combat. Ace puts more weight on flying and fighting skill. The PC gameplay settings page documents the difficulty and objective-log options: EA PC gameplay settings.

Keep the objective log visible if your settings allow it. EA says it shows which actions are required to advance. When you wonder, “Which objective am I missing?”, check the log first, then look for the corresponding target marker rather than continuing to attack an optional enemy.
Power is divided among engines, weapons, and—on shielded fighters—shields. Shift power according to the immediate task: engines to reposition or escape, weapons during an attack, and shields when you expect to absorb fire. On shielded craft, focus shields forward or aft when attacks are concentrated in one direction, then rebalance as the threat changes. Imperial TIE craft without shields demand a different approach: keep moving and avoid lingering in head-on exchanges. EA outlines the systems in its gameplay overview; these combat priorities synthesize that system with secondary tactical guides.
#1 Best Overall
- All Wings Report In – Plan skirmishes with your squadron in the briefing room before taking off to the evolving battlefields across the galaxy. Compete in intense 5 vs. 5 multiplayer dogfights or unite with your squadron to tip the scales in monumental fleet battles. Together, you’re the galaxy’s finest.
- Master Legendary Starfighters – Take control of different classes of starfighters from both the New Republic and Imperial fleets – including the agile A-wing and the devastating TIE bomber. Modify your ship, divert the power between its systems, and destroy your opponents in strategic space dogfights.
- Live Your Star Wars Pilot Fantasy – The cockpit is your home. Use its dashboards to your advantage and – with just a thin hull of metal and glass between you and the perils of space – feel the intensity of combat from a first-person perspective. Take off in thrilling multiplayer modes and a unique single-player Star Wars story, which covers a key campaign near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War.
- The Mission is Clear – Star Wars: Squadrons is a fully self-contained experience from day one, where you earn rewards through play. Climb the ranks and unlock new components like weapons, hulls, engines, shields, and cosmetic items in a clear path for progression that keeps gameplay fresh and engaging.
On PC, EA’s text manual covers keyboard/mouse and joystick controls, including throttle, pitch, yaw, roll, boost, drift, weapons, countermeasures, power allocation, and targeting. If using HOTAS, check and map the exact device rather than assuming every model works. EA reports compatible results in its testing for the Saitek X52, Saitek X-55 Rhino, Thrustmaster T.16000M, and Logitech Extreme 3D Pro; that list is not a guarantee for other devices or consoles.
Prologue and missions 1–4
The mission names and order below follow the secondary campaign guide. Use each as an orientation, not a replacement for the briefing and live objective log. Early mission tactics are also cross-checked against a second walkthrough where available: GeekChamp’s campaign guide and ShowGamer’s walkthrough.
Prologue — Lord Vader’s Command
This Imperial tutorial introduces flight and combat. Learn the controls, stay mobile in the unshielded craft, and keep the protected shuttle’s situation in view instead of chasing every target.
1 — Form the Vanguard
Use the New Republic opening to practice power and shield allocation. The convoy is the priority: deal with threats near it before pursuing fighters that pose no immediate danger to it.

2 — The Skies of Yavin
Follow the current mission markers and briefing through the hazards and incoming craft. Secondary guides differ in emphasis here, so rely on the objective log and marked targets for the next action.
3 — Through Enemy Lines
Protect the allied capital ship by attacking bombers threatening it; the walkthrough identifies them as the principal damage threat. Avoid overshooting, and use squad commands to direct allies to attack or defend when useful.
4 — Secrets and Spies
In an unshielded Imperial craft, preserve momentum and approach static defenses from safer angles where possible. A secondary walkthrough recommends attacking missile platforms from below; keep moving rather than holding a predictable line.
Missions 5–9
5 — The Trail from Desevro
This mission’s described role centers on disabling targets. Use ion weapons when the objective calls for disabling or capture, direct allied fire at the right target, and avoid extending the fight when destruction is not required.

6 — Signal to Noise
The guides describe a bomber mission involving communications targets. Orient carefully for bombing runs and manage defenses while attacking relays. Confirm the required ship and target in your briefing; guide descriptions are not official mission documentation.
7 — Into the Abyss
Keep the convoy in view and prioritize TIE bombers threatening transports. ShowGamer advises staying near the convoy instead of chasing fighters to the edge of the combat area.
8 — Fractured Alliance
Stay mobile and watch for incoming waves. ShowGamer describes a Nebulon-B defense and recommends monitoring indicators as new enemies arrive; let the in-game objective display determine which threat comes first.
9 — Chaos at Mon Cala
This is described as a large fleet-defense mission. Identify the most urgent threat, then make attack runs on capital-ship systems when the current objective calls for them.

Missions 10–14
10 — Terisa’s Vengeance
The secondary guide describes a capital-ship assault. When the objective permits, attack marked defensive subsystems before the hull. Make deliberate passes, and select a suitable bomber loadout if that option is available.
11 — Nowhere to Stand
For this multi-objective defense, delegate with squad commands and handle the nearest urgent threat first. Move between objectives as priorities change instead of staying in a prolonged fight with one target.
12 — Rally the Remnants
Protect allied ships and reposition quickly. The guide emphasizes allied support; keep checking the objective log as the mission’s priorities shift.
13 — Fire in the Heart
Coordinate attacks on marked targets and use cover while repositioning. Follow the changing prompts rather than assuming one target remains the priority throughout the assault.

- Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron (PSP)
14 — Last Flight of the Starhawk
The guide describes this as the final Imperial-side showdown. Target the Starhawk’s marked weak points and adapt when the encounter changes phase; treat each new objective prompt as your immediate next step.
How long is the campaign?
GeekChamp’s 2026 guide estimates 5–8 hours for a first run. That is a secondary guide’s estimate, not an official playtime figure; difficulty, familiarity with the controls, and time spent replaying missions all affect completion time. The same guide reports 14 main missions plus a prologue; EA’s reviewed official pages do not independently publish a mission count.
How to resolve a mission that seems stuck
- Open or enable the objective log in gameplay settings. EA documents its purpose as showing the actions needed to advance.
- Read the current objective and identify its marked target or required action. Do not assume that destroying every enemy is necessary.
- Recheck the briefing and target markers after a phase change or wave. A new prompt may replace the previous priority.
- If a walkthrough suggests a different route, follow the live in-game objective. Secondary guides can help orient you, but the game’s own markers and log control progression.
EA’s game materials place the story a few months after Return of the Jedi and describe pilots switching between New Republic and Imperial sides. The official StarWars.com game page also describes full-game VR support. EA’s launch announcement identifies PS4, Xbox One, and PC as original launch platforms; those are release facts, not confirmation of current storefront stock or compatibility with later hardware: EA launch announcement.
