Vader Immortal: Episode I is best understood as a compact, cinematic VR story with a separate Lightsaber Dojo for players who want more time wielding a lightsaber. Its appeal is immersion in a Star Wars scene—especially one involving Darth Vader—rather than a long, conventional game campaign.
What Episode I is about
You play a smuggler operating near Mustafar in the Reign of the Empire era. After being pulled from hyperspace, you become involved in an ancient mystery at Darth Vader’s request. ZO-E3, your droid companion, is voiced by Maya Rudolph. StarWars.com’s Episode I page gives the official premise and character details.
The setup is a natural fit for VR: the draw is being present in the scene and interacting with a familiar Star Wars setting, not simply following a story through conventional controls.
How the story and Dojo compare
The story: cinematic, not sprawling
“Short but sweet” is a fair qualitative description if you want a focused VR narrative. There is no runtime figure in the official sources, so it would be misleading to promise a specific number of minutes or hours. The experience is also not structured like a broad campaign with extensive systems and side content.

Road to VR’s 2019 review characterized the story as closer to a VR experience than a conventional game. That is one publication’s launch-era critical perspective, not a measured runtime or a universal verdict. Read the Road to VR review.
The Lightsaber Dojo: a separate reason to return
The Lightsaber Dojo is distinct from the narrative. StarWars.com describes it as an extended, open-ended lightsaber experience, while Star Wars Support says each episode includes a Dojo where players can hone their skills and unlock different lightsaber hilts. That repeatable practice is where the package offers more play beyond the story. It does not turn Episode I into a long campaign, but it gives the lightsaber-focused side of the experience room to breathe.

Platforms and hardware requirements
Storefront listings can change, so check the listing for your region before buying. The Meta Store listing includes Quest 3S, Quest 3, Quest Pro, and Quest 2. For the PS4 version, PlayStation’s listing says PlayStation VR and PlayStation Camera are required.
Star Wars Support identifies Poland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan as places where the series is currently unavailable from the PlayStation Store. This is a regional limitation, not a statement about availability everywhere. Check Star Wars Support for the availability note.

Verdict
Vader Immortal: Episode I is a compact VR story whose strongest selling point is the feeling of being inside a Star Wars adventure, with the Lightsaber Dojo adding a more open-ended activity afterward. Go in for atmosphere and lightsaber practice, not for a long campaign. The practical deciding factor is whether you already have compatible hardware and can access the version available in your region.
