StarRupture’s first gameplay reveal shows an early PC build built around base-building, exploration and combat: gathering resources, expanding a base, defending it from hostile creatures and finding shelter when a star-driven fire wave sweeps across the world. Creepy Jar says the sandbox is intended to sustain play “for hours, weeks and months,” but that is the developer’s design claim—not a measured playtime result. StarRupture entered Steam Early Access on January 6, 2026, and its current build may change.
What does StarRupture gameplay look like?
The official reveal presents StarRupture as a first-person base-builder set in a resource-rich but dangerous open world. Creepy Jar identifies its three main gameplay pillars as base-building, exploration and combat. The footage shows a player gathering resources, building production infrastructure and using turrets and automated drones to defend a custom base against enemy waves.
There are two overlapping survival pressures. Hostile creatures threaten the player and their base, while the Ruptura star periodically unleashes a fire wave that makes the world dangerous and sends the player toward shelter. The reveal frames this as a recurring event that changes how and when it is safe to move through the environment.
The loop suggested by the footage is practical rather than purely scenic: gather materials, use them to support production and defense, respond to creatures, and prepare for the fire wave. The reveal establishes the intended tone and systems, but not how polished or complete they are.

Why does Creepy Jar say it can last for hours?
In an earnings-call discussion, Creepy Jar representative Krzysztof Kwiatek said: “90% of this game is gameplay features that will give you hours, weeks and months of driven gameplay in this sandbox”. He was describing the company’s intended gameplay depth, not reporting measured hours played by players.
The systems discussed around that claim include building on a small scale or developing large automated factories, managing and defending a base, playing co-op, and adapting to recurring fire waves that change what the world reveals. Those features explain the design rationale for long sessions: players can pursue construction, automation, exploration and survival tasks over time. They do not establish a specific campaign length or guarantee that every player will spend a particular number of hours in the game.

Is StarRupture out yet?
Yes. Steam lists StarRupture as an Early Access game released on January 6, 2026, developed and published by Creepy Jar. Steam’s Early Access disclosure says the game is incomplete and may change. The reveal footage itself was captured from an early PC build, so it should not be treated as a final-build demonstration.
Steam describes the current Early Access experience as including exploration, resource gathering, machines for mining, harvesting, creating and assembling, combat and survival. It supports single-player and online co-op for up to four players. The store listing is the clearest reference for the current availability and feature description; consult the StarRupture Steam page for the live listing.

- In the far future, countless alien species explore the galaxy in search of fortune and fame. The last interstellar war ended over fifty years ago and since then peace treaties have been in effect. Trade routes are set, civilizations flourish, and a new source of power was discovered – the Hexis crystals.
- Star Scrappers: Cave-in is the first game in the Star Scrappers series, set in a rich and exciting space-western universe, with a unique gameplay mechanics.
- Players take roles of Galactic entrepreneurs, rival mining bosses who compete in this difficult, sometimes even merciless industry.
- As a mining boss, you will have to recruit new mercenary laborers, use their skills, and collect precious artifacts. Your job is to excavate the Hexis crystals but never let your guard down though, as your competition is waiting for a chance to buy off your trusted men and steal the bounty from under your nose! The goal of the game is to get as many victory points as possible before the crystal mine collapses.
- Star Scrappers: Cave-in uses a unique game mechanics called “discard building”. With every action taken, players put their mercenaries into their discard piles. The order of the discarded cards matters because your top card is your Leader and gives you a special action at the beginning of your next turn. Beware, if your discard pile grows too much, it will draw the attention of other players who will not hesitate to steal cards from you – they’re just bribing your men!
What is planned for the full release?
Creepy Jar’s Steam Early Access notes say the planned full version is intended to add biomes, enemies, buildings, mechanics and an end game. These are development plans, not features confirmed as already available in the current build, and plans can change during Early Access.
How should you judge whether its loop suits you?
The reveal and store description point to a blend of systems rather than a single activity. If you are deciding whether to follow or play StarRupture, consider which parts of that mix appeal most:
- Automation: The described loop includes machines and the prospect of large automated factories.
- Exploration: Resource gathering and a dangerous open world make movement beyond the base part of the experience.
- Combat and defense: Hostile creatures, enemy waves, turrets and base protection feature in the reveal.
- Environmental pressure: The recurring fire wave adds a reason to watch the world and seek shelter, beyond ordinary enemy encounters.
- Solo or co-op: Steam lists both single-player and online co-op for up to four players, so the listed options include playing alone or with others.
The original reveal’s publication date is not verifiable from the official material cited here, and the available primary sources do not provide an independently measured playtime figure. The evidence supports describing the intended loop and current Early Access status, not assigning a definitive number of hours or making a like-for-like ranking against other games.
