How to update Stardew Valley on Android
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Stardew Valley, or open the game from your installed-app list.
- Confirm that the listing is the official app by ConcernedApe.
- Tap Update if the button is available.
- Launch the game and check the title screen, settings, or app information for the installed version.
Play Store labels and menu locations can differ between Android devices. If the update is not visible, open the Play Store account menu and check the installed-app updates list, then refresh the store or restart the device. Also check that you have enough free storage.

What Stardew Valley 1.6 adds on Android
Android received the major 1.6 content port rather than a small mobile-only patch. The mobile version history says version 1.6.9 incorporated the PC 1.6.0 through 1.6.9 changes, with platform-specific exceptions including non-LAN multiplayer.

- The new Meadowlands Farm layout.
- New festivals, events, dialogue, quests, crops, items, recipes, and books.
- The Bookseller and new book-related progression.

The initial mobile release was already version 1.6.9, so Android did not launch with the earliest PC 1.6 build. The official 1.6.9 changelog also documents features such as legendary fish ponds, beds in qualifying constructed buildings, floating items, item recovery through a new Secret Woods character, and additional fixes.
Is Android fully caught up with PC?
Android includes the major 1.6 content, but it should not be described as an identical PC build. The current mobile version history reports Android as equivalent to PC 1.6.15. Treat that as the best available version indication rather than a guarantee that every platform feature behaves identically.
Mobile has different controls, save behavior, and platform limitations. In particular, multiplayer information is inconsistent: the Google Play listing says multiplayer functionality is not supported, while the current mobile version history refers to experimental multiplayer support. Do not assume that Android offers full PC-style online multiplayer. Check the current in-game and store information for your device before buying or updating for multiplayer.

Will updating erase an existing farm?
Updating the app normally does not delete save data because saves are stored separately from the installed game. However, back up your farm before installing a major update. Do not rely on reinstalling or clearing app data to preserve saves unless you have already verified a copy.

Important version rule
A newer game version can generally load an older-version save. The reverse is not true: a save created or saved by a newer version may not load in an older game build. Keep the backup from before the update if you may need to roll back.
Can Android saves transfer to PC?
Yes, an Android save can generally be moved to a newer PC version, provided the versions are compatible. Transfer the entire save folder and keep an untouched backup. Problems are more likely when the farm was created or modified with unsupported mods or custom content.
For a failed transfer, check that:
- Both installations use compatible game versions.
- The complete save folder was transferred.
- The save was not altered by unsupported mods or custom assets.
- Android file permissions allow Stardew Valley to read and write the destination folder.
What about mods on Android?
Do not expect the same mod ecosystem as on PC. The official Stardew Valley site warns that modded saves can cause compatibility issues on mobile. Before transferring a PC farm, remove custom content where possible and make a separate backup of the original save. A heavily modded PC farm is a poor candidate for an uncomplicated Android transfer.

Prices, taxes, Play Pass availability, and eligibility vary by country, account, and date. Check the official Google Play listing before purchasing. The listing also reports a June 26, 2026 update described as bug fixes for the 1.6 update; that store metadata is separate from the game’s internal version number.
Troubleshooting Android 1.6
The update does not appear
- Open the official ConcernedApe listing directly instead of relying only on search results.
- Check the Play Store’s installed-app updates list.
- Refresh the Play Store and restart the phone or tablet.
- Confirm available storage and device compatibility.
- Make sure the app is installed under the Google account that owns it.
Rollouts and store caching can delay what appears on an individual device. Avoid unofficial APK sources.
The game crashes after updating
Restart the device and make sure Android and Google Play services are current. Back up the save folder before uninstalling, clearing storage, or clearing app data. Clearing storage without a verified backup can remove local saves. Reproducible problems can be reported through the official Stardew Valley forums.
A farm will not load
The likely causes include an incomplete save folder, a save created by a newer game version, unsupported mods or custom assets, or corruption. Restore the pre-update backup without overwriting your only copy. If possible, try the save on a newer compatible installation and use mobile backup or emergency-save options where available.

Stardew Valley 1.6 is available on Android and has been since November 4, 2024, when it launched as version 1.6.9. The update is worth installing for single-player users who want Meadowlands Farm, new events, mastery, books, quests, crops, and the rest of the major 1.6 content.
