It has 1,413 tillable tiles—compared with 3,427 on the Standard Farm—alongside 1,490 non-tillable tiles that can still be used for buildings. Choose it for a resource-rich, mixed-use farm; choose Standard if large crop fields are your priority.
What makes the Forest Farm different?
The defining feature is its western clearings, where eight Large Stumps respawn daily and can be chopped for Hardwood. The west also has seasonal forage and map-specific weeds that always drop Mixed Seeds when cut. These recurring resources make the map useful even when you are not expanding crops.

To make the most of it, keep routes to the western clearings open. Their value depends on being able to reach the stumps and forage regularly; avoid planning paths or buildings in a way that blocks access.
How much room is there for crops and buildings?
The Forest Farm has 1,413 tillable tiles and 1,490 additional tiles that are not tillable but are buildable, according to the Stardew Valley Wiki’s farm map reference. The Standard Farm has 3,427 tillable tiles. That is more than twice the Forest Farm’s listed crop area.

What forage appears in the western clearing?
The map reference lists four possible forage items for each of spring, summer, and fall, with each listed item assigned a 25% chance for its season. These are spawn possibilities, not a guarantee that every item will appear on a particular visit.
| Season | Possible western-clearing forage |
|---|---|
| Spring | Dandelion, Leek, Morel, Wild Horseradish |
| Summer | Common Mushroom, Grape, Spice Berry, Sweet Pea |
| Fall | Chanterelle, Common Mushroom, Purple Mushroom, Red Mushroom |
| Winter | No western seasonal forage is listed in the cited map reference. |
Cutting the map’s special weeds is another reason to visit the clearings: they always produce Mixed Seeds.
Can you fish on the Forest Farm?
Yes. Woodskip is a possible catch, with the map reference giving its chance as 0.05 plus Daily Luck. Water on the farm may also yield fish found in the Cindersap Forest pond and river, or trash. The formula describes the reported game mechanic; it is not a guarantee of a particular catch.

Should you choose Forest or Standard?
Choose based on whether you value renewable resources and forage more than open crop area. The Forest Farm’s stumps, seasonal western forage, and Mixed Seed weeds support a mixed-use playstyle. Standard is the clearer fit if your main goal is extensive crop production, because its listed tillable area is substantially larger.
Farm-map selection is permanent for a character, so weigh that crop-space tradeoff before creating one. The tile counts and map features above are reported by the Farm Maps reference; the stump respawn behavior is covered by the Wiki’s Hardwood page.
