On August 10, 2024, DSOGaming reported on a low-quality, 28-second video that Rebs Gaming had captioned, “Here’s gameplay of Starfield’s upcoming land vehicle.” DSOGaming cautioned readers to take the clip “with a grain of salt,” noting it could be fake or a mod. The caption was a social-media claim repeated in the report, not confirmation from Bethesda. DSOGaming’s August 10 report does not establish where the footage came from or whether it was authentic.

Did Bethesda confirm the footage was real?
No. Bethesda’s later announcement confirmed the vehicle feature, not the provenance of that specific video. On August 20, 2024, Xbox Wire said the REV-8 was available to all Starfield players in the latest update. That release came ten days after the leak report, but timing alone does not show that the clip was genuine. Xbox Wire’s Gamescom 2024 recap is evidence of the official release, not an authentication of the earlier recording.
What happened next: Starfield’s official land vehicles
Starfield now has two land vehicles in Bethesda’s current guidance: the REV-8 and the Moon Jumper. The REV-8 became available in an August 2024 update. On April 7, 2026, Bethesda announced that the Free Lanes update was available and described the Moon Jumper as a new vehicle designed for verticality. Bethesda’s Free Lanes and Terran Armada overview introduces that design emphasis; it does not provide enough comparative performance detail to say which vehicle is faster, tougher, or better overall.

How to get and deploy a land vehicle
- Visit a ship technician in a city and purchase a vehicle module.
- Install the module on your ship.
- Land the ship. The equipped vehicle automatically deploys outside it.
Bethesda’s current vehicle support guidance also says vehicle colors can be customized. Its shared acquisition and deployment instructions cover both the REV-8 and Moon Jumper.

Why the distinction matters
The leak story and the game feature are separate claims. The contemporary report supports that a purported clip circulated and was described as uncertain. Bethesda’s subsequent updates establish that Starfield has land vehicles. Neither fact supplies the missing proof that the reported clip was authentic.
