System View shows the bodies in a system, recommended level, faction control, and marked points of interest; Planet View helps you inspect resources and landing sites. There is no verified official total or complete public roster of every planet and moon, so the locations below explain how to find them rather than claiming to list every world.
How to find planets and moons in the Starmap
-
Choose a system in Galaxy View

Representative planet and moon locations
The following are examples, not an exhaustive roster. PCGamesN’s guide, updated September 29, 2024, names selected destinations and their systems; it does not establish every body in the game: PCGamesN’s planet guide.
| Destination | Type | System | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Akila | Planet | Cheyenne | Named as a planet location. |
| Jemison | Planet | Alpha Centauri | Named as a planet location. |
| Volii Alpha | Planet | Volii | Named as a planet location. |
| Kreet | Moon | Narion (moon of Anselon) | Identified as a moon of Anselon. |
| Va’ruun’kai | Planet | Not stated in the cited guide | Identified as the focal planet of the Shattered Space expansion. |
Using a searchable atlas to locate a named world or resource
If you know the destination’s name or are looking for a resource-bearing world, a searchable third-party atlas can be quicker than browsing systems one at a time. StarfieldDB describes its planet atlas as searchable and filterable: StarfieldDB planet atlas. Its figures should be treated as that site’s database counts, not an official Bethesda census.

- Create a character according to your imagination and explore the endless expanses in unparalleled freedom
- The goal of this epic journey? The answer to humanity's greatest question
StarfieldDB’s planet page headline says it covers 1,694 planets across 121 unique star systems, but the rendered results counter says 1,702 posts. Its separate system index lists 121 system entries: StarfieldDB system index. Because the page’s displayed counts conflict, neither number establishes an authoritative complete in-game total.

Bethesda’s Starmap guide explains navigation but does not publish a complete planet-and-moon roster or an official total. Third-party counts are not directly interchangeable: they describe the scope of the database or catalog that published them, and the StarfieldDB planet page itself shows two different counts.

- TELL YOUR STORY - In Starfield the most important story is the one you tell with your character. Start your journey by customizing your appearance and deciding your Background and Traits. Will you be an experienced explorer, a charming diplomat, a stealthy cyber runner, or something else entirely? The choice is yours. Decide who you will be and what you will become.
- EXPLORE OUTER SPACE - Venture through the stars and explore more than 1000 planets. Navigate bustling cities, explore dangerous bases, and traverse wild landscapes. Meet and recruit a memorable cast of characters, join in the adventures of various factions, and embark on quests across the Settled Systems. A new story or experience is always waiting to be discovered.
- CAPTAIN THE SHIP OF YOUR DREAMS - Pilot and command the ship of your dreams. Personalize the look of your ship, modify critical systems including weapons and shields, and assign crew members to provide unique bonuses. In deep space you will engage in high-stakes dogfights, encounter random missions, dock at star stations, and even board and commandeer enemy ships to add to your collection.
- DISCOVER, COLLECT, BUILD - Explore planets and discover the fauna, flora, and resources needed to craft everything from medicine and food to equipment and weapons. Build outposts and hire a crew to passively extract materials and establish cargo links to transfer resources between them. Invest these raw materials into research projects to unlock unique crafting recipes.
- LOCK AND LOAD - Space can be a dangerous place. A refined combat system gives you the tools to deal with any situation. Whether you prefer long-range rifles, laser weapons, or demolitions, each weapon type can be modified to complement your playstyle. Zero G environments add a chaotic spectacle to combat, while boost packs give players freedom to maneuver like never before.
A Bethesda Creations catalog listing for the community-made Starfield Compendium describes filters for resources, system level, faction, Planetary Habitation skill, and range. Its description cites 45 unique inorganic and 30 unique organic resources across 465 planets, 226 gas giants, and 972 moons. These are figures from the catalog description, not a separately verified game-wide census: Starfield Compendium on Bethesda Creations.
