In Starfield, you can get Aromatic by buying it from resource vendors, gathering it from certain plants or creatures, or producing it at an outpost. Buying is the direct option, but vendor stock is partly random, so a listed seller may not have any when you visit.
Buy Aromatic from vendors
Vendors reported to sell Aromatic include:
- Kolman Lang in Volii.
- Clint De Haven and Wen Tseng in Alpha Centauri.
- Dietrich Sieghart, Amoli Bava, and James Newill, also named in vendor listings.
These locations and sellers are listed by INARA and Gamer Guides. INARA notes that vendor stock is partly random and quantities are not guaranteed. If a seller has no Aromatic, check another listed vendor or return after the vendor stock resets.
Gather it from plants and creatures
INARA lists several possible sources, including the Blue Weeping Shrub and Velvet Bloom, as well as fauna such as Bladeback and Mantodea. Search and scan flora or fauna on suitable worlds to identify harvestable sources. The available listings do not establish a single best planet or biome, so there is no supported universal fastest gathering route.
Produce Aromatic at an outpost
For a longer-term supply, INARA lists Aromatic as producible at outpost facilities:

- Animal Husbandry Facility: Fiber and Water, or Nutrient and Water.
This option requires the relevant outpost setup and inputs; it is not an immediate substitute for buying or gathering if you have not established those facilities.
What Aromatic is used for
Gamer Guides reproduces the in-game description as: “Rare organic resource. This item can be used as a component in crafting.” INARA lists food and drink recipes that use Aromatic, including Alien Energy Drink, Alien Kebabs, Alien Stew, Alien Tonic, Boba Alien Tea, Creature Jam, Lumberjack Julep, and Stellar Kebabs. It is also used in the food-related research projects Beverage Development, Exotic Recipes, and Mixology.
