When does the State of Decay 3 beta start?
Undead Labs announced on August 26, 2026 that closed beta playtests are planned before the end of 2026. The studio has not announced a specific start date. Its announcement says the alpha and closed beta will expand to more players over time, so participation may come in waves rather than through one public launch.

The first signup wave had limited participation, according to the studio’s April 3, 2026 signup announcement. Signing up now is a way to be considered for later opportunities, not confirmation that you will receive an invitation.
Which platforms will State of Decay 3 and its beta support?
Undead Labs names Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5 as planned platforms for the game. Xbox Wire also lists cloud play, Steam, Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere among the ways the game is expected to be available. Microsoft’s product listing names Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11.

State of Decay 3 is targeting a 2027 launch. Xbox Wire reported that target in June 2026, and Undead Labs reiterated it alongside the beta announcement in August. Neither source gives an exact release date, so “coming soon” should be understood as a 2027 target rather than a specific launch window.

Xbox says the game is planned for Game Pass at launch. Xbox Wire describes solo play and shared-world co-op for up to four players, alongside settlement building, survival and zombie combat. The available announcements do not establish pricing, cross-play, cross-save or whether beta access will be equivalent across platforms.
