There is no documented Climbey procedure for calibrating Steam Frame eye openness—the degree to which your eyelids are open. The available guidance concerns eye tracking and gaze data, not an openness setting. For multiplayer eye tracking, Climbey’s developer said on 24 December 2025 that the currently supported route is to stream the game through Steam Link.
Eye gaze and eye openness are different
Eye gaze describes where your eyes are looking; eye openness describes how open your eyelids are. Valve’s Steam Frame custom-engine documentation says, “Our current support for eye tracking uses the XR_EXT_eye_gaze_interaction OpenXR extension.” That identifies an eye-tracking interface, but the page does not say it exposes eyelid-openness values or provide a calibration workflow. Valve’s Steam Frame custom-engine documentation therefore does not establish that Climbey can read or calibrate eye openness.

Climbey’s developer described initial support for “SteamVR Link OSC-powered eye tracking passthrough.” That is the documented feature; it is not a published eye-openness calibration control. Climbey developer update, 24 December 2025.

The developer’s stated condition is specific to multiplayer: “Eye tracking support in multiplayer will currently only work when Climbey is streamed via Steam Link, the Steam Frame does not currently broadcast the OSC data on itself, when it does it will automatically start working however!” This describes OSC data availability, not an eye-openness calibration step. The wording is time-sensitive, so it should not be treated as a permanent limitation if later updates change how Steam Frame broadcasts data.

- Run Climbey on a PC and stream it to Steam Frame through Steam Link if you want to follow the developer’s currently documented multiplayer eye-tracking path.
- Check what you mean by tracking. If you mean gaze direction, the developer’s update describes eye-tracking passthrough. If you mean eyelid openness, neither the Climbey update nor Valve’s cited documentation describes a supported value or calibration control.
- If gaze tracking still does not work on that route, the cited sources provide no further official calibration steps. They do not specify a menu, slider, reset routine, or other corrective procedure.
Streaming Climbey and running it on the headset are different paths

The developer also says Climbey uses Unity 2019.4.41f2 and that an on-device APK with the full OpenXR feature set would require a major overhaul to a much newer Unity version. They say they will rely on FEX for on-device operation for the foreseeable future, generally recommend playing on PC, and note that on-device operation already works and may improve. These implementation details explain the developer’s stated approach; they do not establish a separate eye-openness limitation or a calibration method.
Steam Frame controller bindings and compatibility optimizations mentioned in the same update are separate from eye tracking. They are not calibration steps.

What is not established
The cited developer and Valve material does not document an eye-openness metric in Climbey, an eye-openness calibration screen, or settings and steps for correcting it. It also gives no calibration measurements, duration, accuracy figures, or success rate. If you are seeking a specific eyelid-open value, the available documentation does not establish that Climbey exposes one.
For changes to the Steam Link requirement or Steam Frame’s OSC support, check newer Climbey developer updates and Valve’s Steam Frame documentation. The multiplayer constraint above reflects the developer’s statement dated 24 December 2025.
