What Steam Next Fest is—and what this guide covers
Steam Next Fest is a weeklong event focused on playable demos for upcoming games. Steam says the event helps players discover games they may enjoy while giving developers exposure and feedback. Its 2025 overview confirms editions in February, June and October. Steamworks’ event documentation

The recommendations below draw on selected February and June coverage. They are editorial discovery leads, not Steam’s picks or a complete list of 2025 demos. The February roundup from Destructoid named Solasta 2; PCGamesN also published a ten-demo selection. Game Informer’s June guide selected 25 demos its team had played during that edition. These roundups are useful ways into a large event, not objective rankings.
February 2025: a starting point from the edition’s roundups
Solasta 2
Destructoid included Solasta 2 in its February 25 recommendations. Treat the mention as a pointer from that edition’s curated roundup, rather than a claim that it was the best demo or that it remains playable now. Destructoid’s February 2025 roundup

June 2025: browse a broader curated selection
Steam’s June edition ran June 9–16, 2025, and its announcement described the event as offering hundreds of free demos. Steam encouraged players to wishlist favorites to receive a notification when the full game launches. “Hundreds” is Steam’s wording, not a precise count. Steam’s June 2025 announcement

For individual June picks, Game Informer’s guide is the most useful supported starting point in the available recommendations: it covers 25 demos its team had played during the edition. Open the roundup and choose by the genres and premises that appeal to you; the available material does not establish a comparable scoring system or basis for ranking its selections against one another. Game Informer’s June 2025 demo guide
What about the October 2025 edition?
Steam’s 2025 event overview confirms that an October edition was part of the annual February–June–October cadence, but the available material does not establish an appropriately supported, cross-genre October shortlist or its precise dates. Rather than fill the gap with guesses, this guide leaves October picks out.

Are 2025 Next Fest demos still available?
Past participation does not mean a demo is still downloadable. Next Fest promotes upcoming games through playable demos, but availability can change after an edition; a game may now be released, its demo may have been removed, or its store listing may have changed. Check the individual Steam store page for the current status before planning to play. Steam
If a game interests you but is not yet released, wishlist it on Steam. Steam’s June announcement says wishlisting can notify you when a full game officially launches; it is not a guarantee that a past demo will remain available.
