Space Marine 2 pits players against Tyranids and Chaos, but the available enemy lists vary by mode and update. Patch 15, released on 1 October 2026, added Chaos Siege, where Chaos Space Marines fight Tyranids, Cadians and Loyalist Space Marines in PvE. The enemy index below is a dated baseline—not a definitive list of every enemy currently in the game.
What enemies are in Space Marine 2?
The game’s two principal enemy forces are the Tyranids and Chaos, including the Thousand Sons. A community guide published on 9 January 2025 grouped many enemies by encounter tier. Its roster is useful for identifying familiar foes, but later patches added enemies and modes, so it should not be read as a current, exhaustive index. The guide describes itself as “semi-useful.”
In the guide’s tier labels, Minoris generally covers lesser battlefield threats, Majoris covers more substantial enemies, Extremis highlights dangerous specialist foes, and Terminus includes major encounters and bosses. The guide also groups some campaign and boss encounters separately. These are encounter categories, not guarantees that an enemy appears in every mode.
Tyranid enemies
| Encounter tier or role | Enemies listed in the January 2025 guide |
|---|---|
| Minoris | Hormagaunts, Termagants, Gargoyles, Rippers and Spore Mines |
| Majoris | Tyranid Warriors, including dual-sword, lash-whip, devourer, barbed-strangler and venom-cannon loadouts |
| Extremis | Raveners, Lictors and Zoanthropes |
| Terminus, campaign or boss encounters | Carnifex, Neurothrope, Hive Tyrant and Hierophant bio-titan |
The Warrior weapons listed are loadouts or variants of one enemy type, not five separate species. The guide’s grouping also spans different kinds of encounters; it does not establish that every listed enemy appears in the same mission or mode. January 2025 community guide

Later Tyranid addition: Biovore
Patch 6 added the Biovore as a Tyranid Extremis enemy. Focus Entertainment describes it as mobile living artillery that launches Spore Mines and can also attack in melee. Patch 6 notes
Chaos and Thousand Sons enemies
| Encounter tier or role | Enemies listed in the January 2025 guide |
|---|---|
| Minoris | Cultists, long-las Cultists, Serpents of Tzeentch, Tzaangors and shielded Tzaangors |
| Majoris | Tzaangor Enlightened, Rubric Marines and warp-flamer Rubric Marines |
| Extremis | Scarab Occult Terminators with soulreaper or powersword loadouts, and Lesser Sorcerers |
| Terminus, campaign or boss encounters | Helbrute, Heldrake and Imurah |
Some entries are variants or equipment configurations rather than wholly separate enemy types. For example, the guide distinguishes Rubric Marines from warp-flamer Rubric Marines and lists two Scarab Occult Terminator loadouts. January 2025 community guide

What Patch 15 changed: Chaos Siege
Patch 15, released 1 October 2026, introduced Chaos Siege and made Chaos Space Marines playable opponents in PvE for the first time, according to Focus Entertainment. In the publisher’s words, “For the first time in the game, the forces of Chaos will intervene in the conflict between the Imperium and the Tyranids.” Patch 15 notes

Chaos players are supported by Cultists and a Helbrute as they fight Hive Fleet forces and Loyalists. Anniversary Update II announcement
This is a mode-specific change: Chaos Siege establishes Chaos Space Marines as a playable PvE side, not a new universal enemy roster for every mission type.

Why there is no reliable single “all enemies” count
An enemy list can mix ordinary units, weapon variants, campaign characters, bosses and forces that are playable in one mode but opponents in another. Patch history also matters: the January 2025 guide predates the Biovore, the Patch 10 additions and Chaos Siege. The official material cited here confirms those later changes, but does not provide one consolidated, current enemy-by-enemy roster with availability by mode.
