Steam’s Top Sellers and Most Played charts measure different things: sales performance and concurrent play. In Steam’s snapshot accessed on October 8, 2026, Dota 2 led the displayed Top Sellers list, while Counter-Strike 2 led Most Played with 825,035 in-game players. These are live-chart observations—not a year-to-date leaderboard or a final 2026 ranking.
What the Steam charts measure
Top Sellers
Steam’s Charts page has a Top Sellers view for sales-oriented rankings. A position here is not a player-count ranking.

Most Played reflects concurrent play. The player figures shown alongside titles are in-game counts at the time of the snapshot; they are not monthly players, total owners, or lifetime player totals.
Steam’s 2026 starting grid
The following order records the opening entries in Steam’s live lists as observed on October 8, 2026. Rankings and counts can change, so treat them as a dated snapshot rather than a durable 2026 standing.

Counts and list positions above are Steam’s displayed values in the October 8, 2026 snapshot. They do not establish an annual result. The split between the lists also matters: Dota 2 appears first in Top Sellers, while Counter-Strike 2 leads the concurrent-player list.
Choose the chart that matches your question
- What is selling strongly now? Use Top Sellers.
- What is being played concurrently? Use Most Played, and read its count as a point-in-time measure.
- What led during a particular week? Use Steam’s dated weekly chart and specify the week.
- Which new releases performed well in a month? Use the monthly new-release view and name the month.
- What were the year’s leading games? Use Steam’s Best of Year pages and state the year and chart category.
A live ranking, weekly result, monthly new-release view, and annual Best of Year page answer different questions; do not treat one as a substitute for another.

How to interpret player counts and tracker data
A concurrent count is only one measure of activity. SteamCharts, an independent tracker, reports current players, recent activity, and peak counts as separate measures. Its figures may differ from Steam’s official snapshot because the source and capture time differ. If consulting it for historical context, label its numbers as SteamCharts data and include the relevant capture time; use Steam’s Charts page for claims about Steam’s official lists.
