The November desktop-client details come from a contemporaneous report; Valve’s official Steam Deck notes separately name the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller and document group-chat reporting in a later Stable update.
What changed in Steam chat reporting?
A report published on November 18, 2025, said the client update added reporting for suspicious or harassing one-to-one messages and warning banners for potentially malicious content. According to Linuxiac’s November 18 report, links in a flagged message remain disabled until the user dismisses the warning. These desktop-client details are attributed to that report; the reviewed official listings do not establish that they all shipped together in one stable desktop release.
Group-chat warnings in the Beta
Valve’s Steam Client Beta announcements describe warnings on suspicious-content messages in group chats. The listed actions are to report the message, block its sender, or dismiss the warning. This is a Beta feature in the cited listing, not confirmation of universal availability in Stable.
Reporting from Steam Deck chat
Valve’s Steam Deck update listing describes reporting a suspicious or harassing group-chat message from the chat window: select the message and press “Options.” While filing the report, users can also choose to block or unfriend the sender. Those instructions appear in a later Stable-channel update, so they should not be read as the timing of the November desktop-client changes.
Which actions are available, and where?
| Chat context and source | Reported action | Channel or timing |
|---|---|---|
| One-to-one messages, Linuxiac report | Report suspicious or harassing messages; the report also describes warnings for potentially malicious content and links disabled until the alert is dismissed. | Reported November 18, 2025; the report does not establish a matching official Stable desktop release. |
| Group chat, Valve Steam Client Beta listing | Report a flagged message, block the sender, or dismiss the warning. | Beta listing. |
| Group chat on Steam Deck, Valve update listing | Select the message and press “Options” to report; optionally block or unfriend the sender while submitting. | Later Stable-channel update, not dated as part of November in the cited notes. |
What controller support was added?
Valve’s Steam Deck news listing names the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller as newly supported in a November 2025 Steam Deck update. The listing supports that device-specific statement; it does not, by itself, establish compatibility across every Steam platform or connection method. Check the requirements for the Steam client, device, and connection you intend to use before buying. It is an example of the newly named support, not a recommendation.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Analogue 3D, Switch, Switch 2, Windows, and Android. (Switch 2 compatibility requires latest firmware update)
- Bluetooth or Wired USB connection
- D-input and S-input modes
- Vibration supported on Analogue 3D and Switch 1/2 (Nintendo 64 Online only)
- Turbo function
Controller support requests can also be specific to a device: one Steam Client Beta discussion asks, “Can we get support for the NSO GameCube Controller soon?” That question is an individual discussion, not evidence that support was added or that the request reflects broader demand.

The update notes cited here cover more than one channel and date. Valve’s Steam Client Beta announcements identify Beta changes; the Steam Deck listing separates a November controller-support mention from group-chat reporting documented in a later Stable update. The November desktop-client reporting details are attributed to Linuxiac’s contemporaneous account. Check the relevant announcement and the channel installed on your device rather than assuming every feature is available to every Steam user.
