Mai’s Street Fighter 6 update launched on February 4, 2025, so it is no longer upcoming. Capcom’s launch trailer promoted her Combo Trials and Character Guide, a limited-time V-Rival, Master Rank rewards, and quality-of-life improvements—but it did not spell out those improvements or explain the “just got even better” hook in the headline.
Is Mai in Street Fighter 6 yet?
Yes. Capcom’s February 4, 2025 launch trailer announced that players could “Play the Mai Update now to prove you’re her biggest fan in Street Fighter 6!” The update is a past release, not a forthcoming one. Capcom’s Mai Update launch trailer

What did the Mai update add?
Capcom’s trailer highlighted several parts of the update, but it did not provide a complete patch-note list.
- Combo Trials and Character Guide: The trailer promoted these Mai-focused learning features.
- V-Rival challenge: Players could fight Professor Woshige’s V-Rival through March 5, 2025. That limited-time promotion has ended.
- Master Rank rewards: The trailer announced new ranks and rewards for Master Rank.
- Quality-of-life improvements: Capcom mentioned additional improvements without enumerating them in the trailer description.
The official announcement supports those details, but not a more specific list of changes or claims about Mai’s balance, usage, or reception.

#1 Best Overall
- Classic Experience Built for a Modern Era: With all core gameplay modes present, plus two brand new modes and enhanced visuals, Street Fighter 6 redefines the classic fighting game genre.
- Distinct Fighting Styles to Master: 18 diverse characters including legendary World Warriors and exciting brand new characters add their own flair to the game at launch, with more to be added post-launch.
- Brand New Game Modes: The Street Fighter franchise continues to hone its skills and redefine the fighting genre with the introduction of three new foundational modes – Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub.
- In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.
- Two New Control Schemes: Classic Controls returns alongside two brand new options: Modern Controls allow you to perform special attacks with simple button combinations and are designed for players who want to fight without memorizing and practicing special move button combinations first. Dynamic Controls only require a press of the Auto-Attack button to perform attacks and is a great control type to use when you have friends and family over for a quick, casual game.
How to get Mai now
Street Fighter 6 is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, according to Capcom’s June 9, 2026 announcement. Check your platform’s storefront for current editions and add-on contents. Capcom Town Store describes its Year 1–4 Character Passes and Ultimate Passes as adding playable characters, while noting that the base game is required; it does not establish that every current pass on every platform includes Mai. Capcom reported more than 7 million cumulative Street Fighter 6 sales in June 2026. That is a sales milestone, not a count of current or active players, and it does not indicate how often Mai is selected. Capcom’s June 2026 announcement
