Capcom’s June 7, 2024 Street Fighter 6 Year 2 Character Reveal Trailer announced Mai Shiranui as one of four incoming fighters—and, alongside Terry Bogard, one of the first two guest characters in Street Fighter series history. Mai was announced for Winter 2025 and later released on February 5, 2025.
What the Street Fighter 6 DLC trailer announced
The trailer revealed four Year 2 characters in this order: M. Bison, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and Elena. Terry and Mai are guest characters from SNK’s Fatal Fury series; M. Bison and Elena are returning Street Fighter characters. Capcom’s official description called Terry and Mai “the first two guest characters to ever grace the Street Fighter series.” That supports describing Mai as part of the franchise’s first guest-character pair, rather than claiming she alone was definitively the second-ever guest character.

The trailer was published June 7, 2024. Its seasonal windows—M. Bison in Summer 2024, Terry in Autumn 2024, Mai in Winter 2025, and Elena in Spring 2025—were forward-looking announcements at the time, not current release guidance.
When did Mai come out in Street Fighter 6?
Capcom later set Mai’s release date as February 5, 2025. Its Japanese announcement said she would join the Year 2 roster that day, following the reveal of her gameplay video. The trailer’s Winter 2025 window was therefore an announcement, not the final date.

How to get Mai in Street Fighter 6
Capcom’s purchase options at release were access through either the Year 2 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass, or a separate purchase using Fighter Coins. Capcom France described pass owners as able to play at release and listed the Fighter Coins option as an alternative. Check the storefront for your region and platform for current pass contents, terms, and purchase availability.

- Fighter Coins: Capcom also offered Mai as an individual character purchase. The cited announcements do not establish current prices.
Physical edition for new players
Capcom announced Street Fighter 6 Years 1–2 Fighters Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, planned for June 5, 2025. The edition was described as including the base game, the Year 1 and Year 2 Character Passes, four additional stages, and Outfit 1 colors 3–10 for the original 18 characters. What the trailer does—and does not—establish
The official description establishes the Year 2 lineup, the Fatal Fury connection for Terry and Mai, the guest-character framing, and the original seasonal release windows. It does not provide a move-by-move account of Mai’s gameplay or a named-speaker quote. Avoid treating specific attacks or animation details as confirmed by the description alone.
Capcom France’s post identified PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam for the release context it described. That dated post is not a complete current platform list; check Capcom or your platform’s storefront for present availability.
