To last longer in Subway Surfers, make deliberate lane changes, jumps, and rolls instead of waiting until an obstacle is almost on top of you. Use hoverboards as one-time crash protection, pick power-ups for the problem you need to solve, and spend Coins on upgrades that improve runs over time. Missions help raise your score multiplier; Daily and Seasonal Quests give you goals on different timers.
How to avoid crashing
Build control before chasing a high score. Swipe to change lanes, jump, and roll, and make each move early enough to choose a safe route rather than reacting at the last moment. SYBO’s official Pro Tips says you can change lanes while airborne and swipe down during a jump to land sooner.
- Change lanes in the air when the landing lane is blocked or a different route is safer.
- Jump to reposition or reach train roofs when that creates a clear path. SYBO notes that a jump can bounce off an obstacle or help you get onto a roof; these are options, not moves to attempt at the last second.
- Roll under low obstacles and use an early jump for obstacles that need to be cleared.
- Avoid repeated bumps. SYBO describes a bump as touching an obstacle without immediately crashing and warns that repeated bumps can give the Guard time to catch up.

What each power-up does—and when it helps

When to use a hoverboard
A hoverboard is a one-time crash shield, not a score multiplier. Save one for a fast or difficult stretch where you want protection against a mistake; SYBO’s starter guide suggests activating one when speed picks up or the path gets tricky. Boards may also have distinct special powers, so check the board’s description and experiment with the ones you own rather than assuming one is universally best.
What to upgrade first
If you are building up Coins, consider upgrades to power-up duration for items you use often. SYBO’s Boosts help page says the Upgrades section uses Coins to extend Jetpack, Super Sneakers, Coin Magnet, and 2x Multiplier duration. Choose based on your needs: longer Jetpack or Magnet time supports Coin collection, while longer 2x Multiplier time supports scoring.

The starter guide also favors Coin-funded upgrades and boards as practical uses of Coins. There is no source-backed universal upgrade order: prioritize the effect that fits the runs you want to improve, and check the current in-game costs and labels before spending.
How missions and Quests work
Missions and your score multiplier
Completing missions raises your score multiplier. SYBO’s Google Play starter guide says the permanent multiplier can reach 30x; temporary effects can push scoring beyond that permanent maximum. Treat those as two different things: missions build lasting multiplier progression, while temporary boosts apply for a limited time.

Daily and Seasonal Quests
Daily Quests expire at the end of the day. Seasonal Quests remain available until the Season Hunt ends, according to SYBO’s Quests help page. Check the objective list and its timer, then work objectives into ordinary runs so you do not spend a run pursuing a goal that has already expired. Rewards and seasonal details can change.
How to use Coins and Keys
Coins support repeatable utility such as upgrades; Keys are scarcer and may be more valuable for a revival during a run you care about or for a particular item you want. SYBO’s Keys guidance surfaced in its official help search results, but the page was not directly accessible; it states that each additional Save Me use in the same run doubles the Key cost. Because costs and availability may change, verify the live prompt before using Keys.

Put the advice together on a run
- Check your objectives. Note mission and Quest requirements, along with any visible expiry timers.
- Choose a useful upgrade or board. Spend Coins on a power-up duration you value; keep a board available as protection for a difficult section.
- Move early. Read the next safe lane, then change lanes, jump, or roll before the obstacle forces a last-second response.
- Use the right boost for the need. Jetpack or Magnet for Coin collection, Super Sneakers for higher jumps, and 2x Multiplier for temporary scoring.
- Reserve Keys deliberately. Before reviving, consider whether the run is valuable enough to justify the current in-game cost.
SYBO says Headstarts and Score Boosters can be combined, but it does not prescribe a single best loadout. Board powers, available boosts, and the power-ups you collect can support different approaches.
What can change in the game
Subway Surfers receives updates and seasonal content. Google Play’s listing displayed an October 1, 2026 update date when checked, as well as seasonal Transylvania content and limited-time offers on October 8, 2026; those details can change and may vary by platform or region. The listing also labels the game as containing ads and in-app purchases. Check your own game and store for current objectives, event timers, offers, and item costs.
