The pass covers Challenger Packs 6 through 11. Nintendo Support describes each individual Challenger Pack as including one fighter, one stage, and music; the pass also includes the Ancient Soldier Mii Fighter costume.

Do you need Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Yes. The pass is DLC, not a standalone game or physical cartridge. Nintendo lists Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as required software and sold separately. If you do not own the game, buying the pass alone will not let you play. See Nintendo’s Vol. 2 product page for the requirement.
How is Vol. 2 different from the original Fighters Pass?
They are separate purchases covering different DLC. The original Fighters Pass includes Challenger Packs 1–5; Vol. 2 includes Challenger Packs 6–11. Nintendo Support lists both passes and their pack ranges on its DLC information page.

Should you buy the pass or individual packs?
Choose based on how many of the six packs you want and the current price in your Nintendo eShop region. Nintendo’s US purchase page listed the pass at US$29.99 and an individual Challenger Pack at US$5.99 when checked for this article; those are regional storefront listings, not guaranteed prices elsewhere or a promise of current pricing. Check the live listing before purchase.
If you want all six packs, compare the bundle price with the total for six individual packs in your storefront. If you only want one or a few fighters, buying individual packs may better match what you plan to use. Nintendo’s DLC purchase page shows its US listings.
