In December 2023, Game Informer reported that story spoilers for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League had appeared online and that Rocksteady responded. The report supports the existence of a spoiler leak, but does not independently verify that it revealed Batman’s death. That distinction matters: DC’s later account confirms Batman is eulogized after the game’s credits, but it is an official explanation of the story, not confirmation of what the leak contained.

What was reported about the leak?

Game Informer reported on December 18, 2023, that story spoilers for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League had appeared online and that Rocksteady responded. The available report establishes that a leak and studio response were reported before launch; it does not establish the specific contents of the leaked material or verify the headline claim that it spoiled Batman’s death. Read Game Informer’s report.

The game has since been released, so the leak and Rocksteady’s response are historical pre-release events—not a current leak alert. Treat claims about exactly what the leak showed separately from what the finished game’s official story materials confirm.

What does the game establish about Batman?

DC identifies Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as a Rocksteady game set in the Batman: Arkham universe. Its official retrospective says that Batman staged his death at the end of Batman: Arkham Knight, later used Scarecrow’s gas to become the Demon Bat, and is eulogized by Lois Lane after the credits in Suicide Squad. DC also notes that Kevin Conroy returned to voice Batman in the game before his death. DC’s Arkhamverse retrospective.

#1 Best Overall
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (PlayStation 5)
  • Join the new "recruited" members of Amanda Wallers infamous Task Force X, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark
  • Players can experiment with a range of different play styles to deal maximum damage to their enemies
  • Whether in single-player mode or online with up to three friends, players can tackle this suicide mission in their own way
  • All team members have their own movement mechanism

Those facts provide context for why Batman’s fate became a point of discussion, but they do not prove that the December leak specifically disclosed his death. DC’s official game page describes the game’s premise and identifies it as a 2024 release. See DC’s game page.

How does Suicide Squad fit into the Arkhamverse?

The official game FAQ places Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League five years after Batman: Arkham Knight. That chronology makes Arkham Knight the immediate story lead-in, though the FAQ does not say that playing it is required to understand or play Suicide Squad. Check the official game FAQ.

For players who want more background, WB Games also points to the official prequel comic Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum. It is an optional continuity companion rather than evidence about the contents of the reported leak. The game itself can be played solo or with up to four players in online cooperative mode, according to WB Games’ launch announcement. Read the WB Games launch announcement.
