Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has flashes of Rocksteady’s character and style, but the available reviews point to a game whose action and open-world structure do not consistently deliver on its premise. It is a third-person shooter built around four Squad members—not a Batman-led Arkham adventure—and the critical case against it is that its strengths are not enough to overcome repetition and a thin-feeling city.
What kind of game is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind the Batman Arkham series, describes the game as a third-person action shooter. Its playable characters are Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. The story sends them into a Brainiac-invaded Metropolis on a mission to kill the Justice League. The official pitch combines gunplay, melee combat, traversal, verticality, and free-roaming exploration in an open-world city. Rocksteady’s official game site
That makes the comparison with Arkham useful mainly as a contrast: this is a squad-based shooter with movement and combat built around four different characters, not a continuation of Batman’s close-quarters, detective-led adventure format. Players expecting the same kind of experience as the Arkham games should account for that shift.
Why does the review say it is “not enough to save the day”?
The exact-subtitle review is associated with Jason Hon of Screen Rant. CritIndex dates the entry February 3, 2024, and lists an attributed score of 6/10; it is one reviewer’s score, not an aggregate. CritIndex’s entry IMDb’s syndicated summary of the Screen Rant review identifies visuals, character designs, and voice acting as strengths, while describing repetitive combat, boss battles, and limited interactivity in Metropolis as criticisms. Those are that review’s assessments, not universal findings. IMDb’s syndicated summary
#1 Best Overall
- Join the new "recruited" members of Amanda Wallers infamous Task Force X, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark
- Players can experiment with a range of different play styles to deal maximum damage to their enemies
- Whether in single-player mode or online with up to three friends, players can tackle this suicide mission in their own way
- All team members have their own movement mechanism
A separate review by Craig Ideson reaches a similarly qualified verdict: it finds some recognizable Rocksteady charm, but not enough to make the overall experience succeed. Ideson identifies the review platform as PS5 and says the review followed a playthrough plus roughly five to six hours of post-game content. That scope matters: the post-game time is his review-specific experience, not a promise about how long the game takes to finish or how much content every player will see. CraigPlaysGames’ review
What works, and what may wear thin?
Character presentation and visual style
The most encouraging critical observations concern presentation: the Screen Rant review, as summarized by IMDb, praises the visuals, character designs, and voice acting. The premise also gives the four leads a clear identity and places them in an unusually high-stakes conflict. These strengths help explain why the game can show flashes of appeal even when the broader experience draws criticism.

Combat and mission variety
The central risk is repetition. The same syndicated summary flags combat and boss battles as weak points, while the game’s official description puts shooting, melee, traversal, and exploration at the center of its structure. For a player deciding whether to continue beyond the story, the key question is whether moving between fights and using the Squad’s different traversal styles remains enjoyable when the missions repeat their patterns. The available reviews do not establish a comparative score or a broad critical consensus on how the game stacks up against other action games.
Metropolis and the open-world promise
Metropolis is presented as a free-roaming city, but the Screen Rant summary criticizes its interactivity. An open map is not automatically a lively one: the value of the setting depends on how much its activities and missions invite exploration rather than funneling players back into similar combat encounters. The evidence here supports that concern as an attributed criticism, not a claim that every player will find the city empty.

Is it worth playing?
It is most likely to appeal to players who want a shooter starring Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark, and who enjoy the premise of a squad taking on a Brainiac-controlled Justice League. The favorable notes on character design, voice acting, and visuals may be enough for those readers to find its style compelling.
It is a harder recommendation for someone seeking another Arkham-style adventure, or for a player who needs consistently varied combat and open-world activities to stay engaged. The exact-subtitle review’s attributed 6/10 and Ideson’s separate, similarly qualified conclusion both support a cautious verdict: there are recognizable strengths, but the reviewed experience does not fully deliver on them. Neither source should be mistaken for a combined score or a guarantee of an individual player’s response.
