Super Evil Megacorp announced on January 13, 2025, that Ian Fielding had become its CEO, succeeding longtime chief executive Kristian Segerstrale. Segerstrale moved into the Executive Chair role and was to continue working with Fielding. The company’s current About page lists Fielding as CEO and Segerstrale as Executive Chairman.
Why Super Evil Megacorp changed leaders
The company framed the appointment as a handoff within its long-term plans. Fielding had been leading products and growth as Studio Head, while Segerstrale’s new Executive Chair role kept him involved in collaboration with the incoming CEO. The January 13 announcement did not describe the change as a departure from the company’s strategy.
Super Evil Megacorp said it aimed to grow into a top-tier independent studio making shared gaming experiences. That is the company’s stated ambition, rather than an independently assessed result. Its announcement positioned Fielding’s production and live-service background as relevant to that direction.
Ian Fielding’s game-development background
In its appointment announcement, Super Evil Megacorp said Fielding had previously worked at Insomniac Games and spent more than eight years at Riot Games. At Riot, he helped lead major updates for League of Legends and helped launch and operate VALORANT as a live service. Before becoming CEO, he served as Super Evil Megacorp’s Studio Head and executive producer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate.

What the company said Fielding helped build
Super Evil Megacorp described its evolution under Fielding’s leadership as a shift from a 30-person, single-product, mobile-first studio to a company with more than 100 people and multiple products across platforms. Those are company-reported figures in the January 13, 2025 announcement, not independently audited measures.
The same announcement said Splintered Fate had received more than 22,000 five-out-of-five player reviews on Apple Arcade. That figure is also the company’s report as of the announcement; it should not be read as a current review count or an independently verified total.
What happened to Segerstrale’s role
Segerstrale moved from CEO to Executive Chair. He said he believed the business was well positioned with Fielding leading its team, while Fielding described his new role as an opportunity to carry forward plans they had developed together. Fielding also said he looked forward to continuing to collaborate with Segerstrale.

The company’s official timeline later recorded retail editions of Splintered Fate arriving in September 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X. That subsequent release is part of the company’s later history; it should not be attributed as an outcome caused by Fielding’s appointment.
