Super Evil Megacorp’s “comeback” is best understood as a period of renewed momentum, not a formal relaunch: in August 2023, the studio said it would keep developing original games while pursuing entertainment partnerships and wider platform releases. It also established a UK legal entity to support development. Since then, the company says it has released new projects and expanded the reach of TMNT: Splintered Fate.

What is Super Evil Megacorp?

Super Evil Megacorp is an independent game developer and publisher known for Vainglory, Catalyst Black, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate. The company describes its goal as building shared gaming experiences and says it uses the proprietary, cross-platform C++ EVIL Engine. Its current portfolio also includes Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game. Super Evil Megacorp’s site categorizes these games by genre, including co-op action, co-op roguelike, battleground shooter, and touch-focused MOBA.

What did “back” mean in the 2023 announcement?

On August 18, 2023, CEO Kristian Segerstrale described a strategy combining original-IP development with work for entertainment partners and efforts to bring games to more platforms. He emphasized that partner projects were an addition to, not a replacement for, original games: “We have historically focused on creating and building original IP. This remains a core tenet of our studio and we continue to work hard in this space.”

At the time, Segerstrale described Super Evil as an all-remote company with more than 100 developers in 15 countries. That figure is a snapshot from 2023, not a current headcount. The announcement is available in the company’s August 18, 2023 update.

Was the UK office a conventional studio?

Not necessarily. The company described opening a UK entity and building a UK-based development presence within its globally remote organization. GamesBeat’s August 2023 report characterized it as a “virtual office”; Super Evil’s own account referred to UK-based team members and monthly in-person meetups. The announcement framed the UK team as a way to support new product development and share resources across the studio—not as evidence of a large, conventional office with a permanently co-located workforce.

Segerstrale said the move marked “an exciting new chapter for Super Evil, as it signals a new focus on the UK game industry talent pool for us through the opening of our UK entity.” That statement describes the rationale at announcement time; it does not establish current hiring levels or vacancies.

What the UK company record confirms

Companies House records SUPER EVIL MEGA CORP UK LIMITED as incorporated on August 11, 2023, and lists it as active, with a registered office in London. Its stated business activity is ready-made interactive leisure and entertainment software development. This confirms a UK legal entity; the registry entry does not, by itself, describe the size or day-to-day setup of the development team. See the Companies House record.

What games and milestones followed?

The company’s subsequent releases and platform milestones provide a way to judge the direction it described in 2023. Its timeline records the following developments; release and sales claims here are company-published.

Date Milestone
September 2024 Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game was announced after being revealed at Netflix Geeked Week.
January 13, 2025 Super Evil announced Ian Fielding as CEO, with Segerstrale moving to Executive Chair.
July 2025 Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game was released as a co-op action game exclusive to Netflix members, according to the company timeline.
September 2025 The company timeline lists TMNT: Splintered Fate reaching retail on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X.
April 2026 Super Evil announced that TMNT: Splintered Fate had sold one million copies. This is the company’s reported milestone, not an independently audited figure.
August 2026 The company timeline lists TMNT: Splintered Fate’s The King’s Gambit update.

The leadership change was announced by the company in its January 13, 2025 statement. The timeline and game descriptions are on the company’s About page. These announcements document milestones, but availability can vary by platform and region.

How the studio’s games fit its strategy

The portfolio shows both partner-based work and games associated with the studio’s longer-running catalog. Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game is based on Netflix’s Rebel Moon universe and was described at release as a co-op action game for Netflix members. TMNT: Splintered Fate brings the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into a co-op roguelike. Earlier titles Vainglory and Catalyst Black illustrate the studio’s original game work. Together, they reflect the two strands Segerstrale described in 2023: original development alongside projects with entertainment partners.

For TMNT: Splintered Fate, the company timeline documents a physical retail release on Switch, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X in September 2025. That milestone does not establish current stock or retailer availability; check local listings for the edition and platform you want.

What is known—and not known—about the studio now?

The dated company announcements and UK registry record establish a clear sequence: a UK entity was incorporated in 2023; the company described a UK-based development presence within a remote studio; and later company updates recorded new releases and platform milestones. They do not establish a current employee count, present hiring plans, or the size and operating arrangements of the UK team. The 2026 sales figure and other timeline milestones should be attributed to Super Evil rather than treated as independently verified measurements.
