Most documented hidden 8-bit Luigi sightings are in Super Mario 3D World, where you may need to inspect walls, reflections, backgrounds, or timed events rather than follow the main path. The list below follows the accessible stage-by-stage locations in iMore’s guide; its World 4 entries are unavailable, so this is not a complete checklist for that world. Bowser’s Fury is a separate Lake Lapcat adventure, and the available sources do not establish a complete Luigi-location list for it.

How to use this location guide

Many sightings are easy to miss if you keep the camera aimed along the route. Look behind or above the action, use binoculars where noted, and try camera tilting when a direction calls for it. Some appearances are tied to a timer or an action, so follow those conditions rather than expecting Luigi to be visible immediately.

The stage directions below are summarized from Zackery Cuevas’s iMore guide, published February 10, 2021. Its location inventory covers Super Mario 3D World; the guide’s title also mentions Bowser’s Fury, but that does not make its list a full inventory for both adventures.

World 1

  • 1-1, Super Bell Hill: Near the checkpoint, use the binoculars and look toward the goal. Luigi peeks from behind a distant fence.
  • 1-2, Koopa Troopa Cave: Before the warp pipe, check the ledge on the right for Luigi on the wall. Wait near the pipe until about 105 seconds remain for another appearance.
  • 1-3, Mount Beanpole: At the start, use the binoculars on the tree and look toward the shadow of the mountain’s highest tree.
  • 1-4, Plessie’s Plunging Falls: Look at the water just past the first boost panels.
  • 1-5, Switch Scramble Circus: Check the reflection in the first spade-shaped mirror.
  • World 1 boss, Bowser’s Highway Showdown: The opening cutscene shows Luigi on the right brick above the Bowser arch. Later, look from the brick wall toward the water before the final warp box for a larger Luigi.
  • World map: Luigi sometimes emerges from the pipe at the World 1-2 icon.

World 2

  • 2-1, Conkdor Canyon: Just past the checkpoint, look at the wall beneath the shifting platforms.
  • 2-2, Puffprod Peaks: Look for Luigi in the fanfare that shoots from the first platform.
  • 2-3, Shadow-Play Alley: Climb the wall at the start and check its upper edge for Luigi’s shadow.
  • 2-4, Really Rolling Hills: Check the bottom of the large hill before the checkpoint. Another Luigi appears from the underground warp pipe when the timer is around 100 seconds.
  • 2-5, Double Cherry Pass: Look in a fence post at the end.
  • World 2 boss, Bowser’s Bullet Bill Brigade: Check the right set of tank treads.

World 3

  • 3-2, Chain Link Charge: Break the sign near the checkpoint.
  • 3-3, Shifty Ghost Mansion: Collect all six clocks, then wait near the goal. Several Luigis rise from background graves at about 12 seconds.
  • 3-5, Pipeline Lagoon: The guide lists three sightings: in the clear pipe before the checkpoint if you move quickly, in the water near the start, and inside a Cheep Cheep’s mouth underwater.
  • 3-6, Mount Must Dash: Reach the end within 325 seconds to see Luigi pass the finish line.
  • 3-7, Switchboard Falls: Use the binoculars and aim toward the waterfalls.
  • World 3 boss, The Bullet Bill Express: Luigi appears in the opening background, outrunning the train, and again on the parallel track near the end.

World 4

The accessible portion of iMore’s guide does not provide the World 4 location directions. No entries are included here rather than guessing at stages or sightings.

What is known about hidden Luigi in Bowser’s Fury?

Bowser’s Fury is a standalone adventure in Lake Lapcat. Nintendo describes Mario traveling between islands and collecting Cat Shines, with Bowser Jr. able to help discover secrets in two-player mode. Its general exploration tips recommend elevated lighthouse viewpoints and using the Right Control Stick to inspect surroundings; those are useful ways to search, not official coordinates for Luigi.

A February 2021 player report on r/nintendo describes finding an 8-bit Luigi in a Cheep Cheep’s mouth while photographing enemies. Treat this as an anecdotal lead, not a verified checklist: the available sources do not establish whether more such sightings exist in Bowser’s Fury, whether they are exhaustive, or whether they award a reward.

Sources and scope

The location directions are attributed to iMore’s hidden Luigi guide by Zackery Cuevas, published February 10, 2021. Nintendo’s game page identifies Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury as a Nintendo Switch title, while the official Bowser’s Fury overview describes the Lake Lapcat adventure. These sources support the distinction between the documented Super Mario 3D World inventory and the limited Bowser’s Fury report.
