Japan’s official prices are ¥7,980 for the combined edition and ¥4,500 for each game downloaded separately; those are not U.S. prices. Nintendo has not established a current U.S. price or stock status on its product page, so check live listings before purchasing.
Where to buy it now
Nintendo announced a physical version combining both games, while each title is also available digitally. Nintendo UK lists a Switch Game Card edition and a download version. Availability and retailer stock can vary, so confirm the format and seller listing before checkout.

Which edition should you choose?
Get the combined edition if you want both adventures
The combined release packages Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 together. In the first game, Mario sets out to recover Power Stars stolen by Bowser, with help from Rosalina. In the sequel, Yoshi joins Mario aboard Starship Mario. The physical and digital combined editions are the straightforward choices if you want both games in one purchase.
Consider separate downloads only if you want one game
Nintendo Japan lists the two games as separate digital purchases at ¥4,500 including tax each. That pricing is specific to Japan; do not use it to estimate what either game costs in the U.S. Check the store for your region before deciding.

- A free update will be available for the Nintendo Switch 2! Enjoy the game at 4K resolution in TV mode or 1080p in Handheld and Tabletop mode.* *4K resolution and 120 fps are available in supported games and require a compatible display. Frame rates capped at 60 fps for 4K output.
Choose physical or digital based on how you buy games
The confirmed distinction is the format: a game card or a download. Compare the current seller price in your region and consider whether you value having a physical copy or the convenience of a digital library. Nintendo’s announcements confirm the formats but do not establish current retailer pricing.
Switch and Switch 2 compatibility
The release is for Nintendo Switch. Nintendo says a free Nintendo Switch 2 update adds 4K support for each game; 4K requires a compatible display. Nintendo’s product information also describes enhanced resolution, an improved user interface, extra Storybook chapters, and a new Assist Mode. The Switch 2 update is relevant if you own that system, but the 4K feature depends on using a compatible display.
