What the overview trailer covers
Nintendo describes the video as a look at “boards, minigames, local and online multiplayer modes, and so much more!” The trailer is a broad introduction rather than a complete mode-by-mode specification; Nintendo’s game pages provide the specific objectives and player limits below. Board play and solo exploration
Mario Party
The traditional party format has players roll dice, move around a board, collect coins, and compete to finish with the most Stars. Nintendo lists five new boards and two returning favorites, and says the mode offers Party Rules and Pro Rules. Options include CPU difficulty and whether to enable motion minigames. Nintendo’s US game page lists 22 playable characters and more than 110 minigames as publisher figures.
Party-Planner Trek
This single-player mode sends players across five boards to help Kamek set up a party. Explore freely, complete tasks, and collect Mini Stars; it is a solo alternative to competing against others in the board-game mode.

- Race across the party board in Koopathlon, a series-first 20-player online competition to see who can rack up the highest scores in minigames like the fast-paced Lane Change. The higher your score in each round, the faster you’ll get to the goal. Koopathlon is just one of a slew of additional modes – there’s something for every kind of Mario Party player to enjoy!
Online races and cooperative play
Koopathlon
Up to 20 players can compete online in a minigame race. Better scores help players progress faster. Nintendo lists this mode as single-player only when played offline, so the 20-player limit is not a local same-system option.
Bowser Kaboom Squad
This is cooperative rather than competitive: up to eight players work together online against Impostor Bowser. Nintendo likewise lists it as single-player only offline.
