Nintendo categorizes the Switch release under action, party, and sports, and identifies local play and online scoreboards, including high-score and fastest-time categories. Those labels make the game relevant to different kinds of players: people progressing alone, groups looking for local play, and players interested in competing for leaderboard times or scores.

What do the reviews say?
The available review figures point to a mixed reception, but they are not directly interchangeable. Switch Scores reports an average of 6.21 across 14 indexed reviews. GameSpot’s index lists a 5. Metacritic’s indexed excerpts include favorable critic descriptions, but the available excerpts do not establish a complete or harmonized score comparison. Treat each figure as a source-specific snapshot, not a universal rating.

For a more concrete criticism, Nintendo Life’s Switch review compares the HD edition with the Wii original and discusses concerns about controls and design. That is the outlet’s assessment, not proof that every player or platform version will have the same experience. Nintendo Life disclosed: “Review copy provided by SEGA.”
Is Banana Blitz HD worth playing?
It may be worth considering if you want a Monkey Ball game with solo play, local play, and scoreboards, and are willing to judge its controls and design for yourself. The review evidence does not support calling it either universally praised or universally disliked. If control feel and level design are decisive for you, read Nintendo Life’s review alongside the source-specific scores before choosing.
