What changed in SuperTux 0.7.0?
The update reaches well beyond a visual refresh. It reworks major story content and adds gameplay mechanics, characters, music, and local multiplayer.
New abilities for Tux
Tux gains four listed abilities: slope sliding, strong buttjumping, rock rolling, and crawling. These expand how the player can move through levels and interact with their layouts.
Redesigned graphics, levels, and story
The release announcement says graphics were revamped for most backgrounds, tiles, objects, and badguys. Story Mode, Revenge in Redmond, and Bonus Island I received complete level-design and story reworks.

The earlier beta announcement gives more detail about the world overhaul: World 1 and World 2, Rooted Forest, were completely overhauled. It also cited a redesigned Bonus Island 1, new assets, enemy updates, new music, and work on the editor. That beta announcement was posted on December 29, 2025, before the stable release.
New and revised characters
New NPCs and enemies include Granito, DiveMine, Fish, and Corrupted Granito. GoldBomb, Igel, Ghoul, Yeti, and Ghost Tree are among the revised characters and bosses.

Other additions
- Local multiplayer: The release adds local multiplayer, though the announcement does not specify compatible hardware.
- Level editor: The editor was revamped.
- New mechanics: Glinted enemies, keys, and an item pocket join the game.
- Bonus islands: Bonus islands are unlocked via Tux Dolls.
- Music: The update includes new music.
Why was SuperTux 0.7.0 more than four years in coming?
The project’s release notes date SuperTux 0.6.3 to December 22, 2021, and 0.7.0 to March 15, 2026. The gap is a little over four years, not exactly four. In December 2025, the team announced the first 0.7.0 beta, describing the complete World 1 and Rooted Forest overhauls before the stable release followed in March.
The SuperTux Team described the goal as making the game “much more finishable” while keeping it the familiar run’n’jump game players know. That is the team’s stated aim, not a measured completion-rate result.

When was SuperTux 0.7.0 released?
The official SuperTux website’s stable announcement is dated March 14, 2026, while the project’s release notes and GitHub release listing date version 0.7.0 to March 15, 2026. The beta announcement came earlier, on December 29, 2025. The project’s release notes date the preceding stable version, 0.6.3, to December 22, 2021.

Android distribution needs a qualification: the official download page says SuperTux was no longer available on Google Play Store as of February 3, 2025, and links to an Android 0.6.3 APK. The stable announcement also refers to Android builds, including an arm64-v8a note. Consult the official page for current Android availability rather than assuming a Google Play listing exists.
