Games to play now, according to the roundup
Skate Story: skateboarding with an impossible goal
Sam Eng’s game puts you in the role of a demon who accepts the Devil’s bargain: skateboard to the Moon and swallow it in exchange for freedom. Rather than presenting itself as only a skateboarding challenge, Skate Story leans into that surreal story premise. Its action includes combo-based boss fights, and its soundtrack features Blood Cultures and John Fio.
Unbeatable: music, rebellion and rhythm combat
Beat is a singer in a world where music is outlawed. The rhythm adventure mixes musical minigames with fights against police, while a separate arcade mode offers another way to play. The roundup reported Steam and PS5 availability and said an Xbox Series X/S release was due soon; it did not establish the later platform status.
#1 Best Overall
- Stray is a single-player third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed, neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity
- Untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity in Stray
- Physical edition comes with 6 Full-Color Art Cards
- Don't miss out on this one-of -a-kind third-person cat adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studio for Nintendo Switch.
Adrift: keep the energy core from overheating
Solo developer S.K.9.8 and co-publisher Secret Sauce set this desert driving game around transporting a volatile energy core. Safe spots and cooling stations help prevent it from overheating, adding resource management to the drive. Holt’s early experience in the roundup included a vehicle getting stuck and a top-down world that he found confusing; those are his impressions, not a guarantee that every player will encounter the same problems.
Drywall Eating Simulator: frustration as satire
Peripheral Playbox’s walking simulator turns daily annoyances into absurd catharsis: punch through walls and eat drywall to calm down. Holt singled out the writing as something he enjoyed. The concept is knowingly comic rather than a realistic guide to handling stress.

- Silent narrative. Mind-solving puzzles.
- No text – No HUD. Only immersion.
- Nature as a game mechanic.
- Includes game manual.
- Languages: English, French, German, and Spanish.
Planet of Lana: a rescue across an alien world
Lana and her companion Mui travel through a world occupied by alien robots as they try to rescue Lana’s sister. The puzzle-platformer was reported on iOS and Android, and the roundup also looked ahead to a sequel from developer Wishfully and publisher Thunderful. The mobile listings and sequel timing should be checked against current store and publisher information.
A Game About Digging A Hole: a compact upgrade loop
The central loop is simple: dig, sell what you uncover and use the proceeds to improve your equipment. Engadget reported that the game had sold more than 1.2 million copies since February, but the roundup did not name the original source of that sales figure. Treat it as a figure Engadget reported, not as independently verified sales data.

Upcoming games and demos to keep on your radar
Better Than Us: social stealth at wealthy people’s parties
Little Bat Games’ announced science-fiction project casts you as an infiltrator trying to take back spoils from wealthy people by manipulating social situations. The roundup listed a 2026 Steam arrival. That was the reported plan at publication, not confirmation of a current release date or status.
PinKeep: pinball meets a roguelike deckbuilder
Okomotive’s game uses pinball to collect resources and place structures that help fend off enemies. The roundup said a Steam demo was planned for January and the full release for late 2026, but it did not give a year for January. Do not assume that demo timing remains current.

- In collaboration with Panic and House House, iam8bit is proud to release Untitled Goose Game "in a box," packed with exclusive collectible goodies:
- Physical Edition of the Game
- The Spring/Summer Plaza Catalog, a 24-page mail-order style circular
- 11" x 17" Village Map Poster

AudioMech: action shaped by the music on your computer
Dylan Fitterer’s rhythm-action game reacts to music playing on the computer, changing weapons and opponents in response to musical features. The roundup described several modes, including one without damage and a boss rush, and reported a Steam demo.
Lost and Found Co.: hidden-object searching
Bit Egg Inc. and co-publisher Gamirror Games’ hidden-object game had a demo and a February 11 Steam release date listed in the roundup, with no year stated for that date. Engadget also reported more than 170,000 Steam wishlists, without naming the original source of the number. Both the date and wishlist count should be understood as what the article reported in December 2025, not a current release listing or independently verified total.

- For a strong story hook: start with Skate Story’s demonic bargain, or look at Planet of Lana’s rescue adventure.
- For music-led play: Unbeatable combines rhythm challenges with a narrative, while AudioMech reacts to music already playing on your computer.
- For a short, immediately legible loop: A Game About Digging A Hole centers on digging and upgrading; Drywall Eating Simulator turns a simple walking-simulator format into satire.
- For unusual systems: Adrift asks you to manage a heat-sensitive cargo during desert driving, and PinKeep links pinball resource collection to defensive deckbuilding.
- For a game to follow rather than buy today: Better Than Us, PinKeep and Lost and Found Co. were presented with future plans or dates, so check their current official listings before relying on those schedules.
For any title, verify its current platform listing, price and demo status before planning a purchase. The roundup was published December 15, 2025, and does not establish what has changed since.
